avalon asic chips - did the first orders ship already?

what the title says... everybody is apparently ordering batches of 10.000 avalon asic chips - did the first orders ship already?  is the 8-week delivery time correct?  Anyone got experience?

i tried searching here but honestly, its a lot to search

Don't know whether i consider this good or bad news... everybody is making boards, clones, batch sales.... in preparation for the almighty chips - but no one has seen chips.  It might be the biggest scam of all.

The first orders won't ship until 8-10 weeks from order date, which is end of June (at best).

Batch 2 is not even halfway yet.  Batch 3 is next.  Chips will start ?

As I read on the thread linked, it would be bad business for Avalon to move chips before Batch3 ships, although it could happen.

I wouldnt think they would release chips before batch 3. But hey, they started batch 2 before all batch 1 buyers got theirs so who the hell knows. I'd think soon since all they are doing is ordering the chips and sending them on. Im sure there's not too much of a wait time for 120nm production.

Nope, at least for the group buys (3 batches paid now, few following) I'm escrowing. First order date is April 27, 2013.

They are supposed to arrive on late June - mid July (8/10 weeks following Avalon's T&C).

What should be arriving any time are the sample batch of chips for prototyping and testing (which were due 4 weeks after order).

Highly unlikely, Avalon has shown themselves to be competent.  Additionally, ordering more already-designed chips and then having those sent out is also much more straight-forward than having to build mining units, with the chips and then every other component.

Avalon has been about the opposite of BFL in terms of lateness, honesty, value and trustworthiness.

af_newbie: true, it was more of a joke as the pattern just follows the typical scam (prepaid orders & unverifiable delivery time)
