I can't say much about the dev team and the site does seem very simple to the point where it looks like it's been completed in a few hours. Their blog also has only one post. However the concept is very interesting. Just picture a way you can connect the original BTC blockchain to eBTC. Similar to how ACES works, imagine if someone was able to create a wrapper around eBTC so that people can send BTC using eBTC while still having the ability to use Smart Contracts with it?

I don't think so. It's not a typo. It means unsigned integer (that's why it's uint - u stands for unsigned). Unsigned means that it cannot be negative (can't have minus sign in front).
