As has already been said repeatedly on all channels, the code 'mistake' can not be corrected. This is the beauty of ethereum smart contracts.
Dev can say that generating new tokens will never happen but that's just his word. There is no way to confirm that since he owns the contract's address.

One way (perhaps the only one) would be to create a new smart contract but that's not an easy task since it will be difficult to compensate for the balance of all existing holders.
Who knows, maybe in the near future we will see the first EBTC 'hard fork'

By the way, I don't think that 'code mistake' has ever been a mistake... Every developer writes code that has a specific purpose. Conclude the rest of yourself!

I think it's really game over for this coin, lucky are those who sold it while it's hot, now the pump is over and everybody is dumping it we are now going to see this token going to 1 sat because obviously, it's a shitcoin nothing more.

I applied it too. The mail address that I applied to its airdrop is clean, no one can use the internet other than me. but it did not receive any token too. Forget the token, ı didn’t receive e-mail. We are just waiting but it will not come. I think they didn’t send it to some users in a purpose. This is a very distressing thing to do. It's a shame.

The idea was simple and brilliant, like everything genius... No body though about it before. I have to admit, even if it was well planned marketing move, it was a nice move. I still think that if dev come up with another creative solution to that "mistake" we can see another rise.
I can't see any reason for dev making that mistake intentionaly.. what do you think was a purpose of this 'code mistake'?

I would recommend to do some researches before obtaining this token.

Some redditers have taken closer look into code and spotted already some flaws. Reportedly the owner can create tokens out of nowhere, meaning that the total supply is uncapped.
This should taken into consideration when obtaining the token, just please be aware of this.

Please note: On October 5, an issue was discovered within the code of Satoshi21’s original contract — the original implementation of eBTC. He mistakenly forgot to change it when he decided not to have an ICO. The function distributeEBTC in the token contract was found to allow the owner of said contract (Satoshi21) to essentially mint unlimited new tokens. It has not been exploited, and it will never be exploited (Will you believe this?!!!!!). eBTC will forever remain at 21,000,000 tokens. As soon as it was discovered, the team collectively started brainstorming ideas immediately on how to address the situation and possible solutions. A game plan has formed and will be implemented in the coming days and weeks.

Actually this news sounds more FUD to me. You need to realise mentioned flaws are irreversible.
In my opinion the good token should be flawless and should not mainly rely on people's trust.
