It is via JavaScript and even the PirateBay uses the same idea to mine bitcoins off of their users' machines. I wouldn't call it browser mining since it's only the command that exists within the browser and the full action is still carried by the processor of the machine. Also, it wouldn't get to anywhere since CPU mining only uses too much power, produces more heat but produces little to no coins at all.

You can mine Monero with Coinhive solutions. You install a chrome extension, fill the Api keys and simple click start mining. Thepiratebay used coinhive to make its mining test.

Hi

Are there any websites I can mine via a browser?

I have never touched it, but the assumption should be that of the three PC mining, browser mining and cloud mining, browser mining should be the least effective. From what I have seen, there is no such thing as hitting the GPU in browser mining and you would not be getting a good direct shot at the CPU without the browser having more elevation than it should in the system. It is there as a nifty thing for people to get attracted to.

There is one project called nimiq which is implementing such feature. This is to allow the wider community to be involved in the mining process and distribution. The project seems promising.

Cryptocurrencies are digital or virtual currencies that make use of encryption for security. As they are anonymous and decentralized in nature, one can use them for making payments that can’t be tracked by governments. As crypto-mining has gained popularity, the website owners are now using cryptocurrency mining scripts to use the CPU power of the visitors for earning profits. This has also inspired some developers to come up with methods to block cryptocurrency mining in the web browser via different methods.

What I would think would be a good idea is browser mining on sites where you are going to be for hours anyway and not interacting much, like watching a chart on an exchange without actually trading, otherwise, it is a waste.

Many websites and faucets are offering this service now. And I am using them for almost 1-2 weeks successfully. The one I recommend though are:

-Moonliteco.in
-Moonbit.co.in
-Moondoge.co.in

You can grab all your coins deposited to coinpot.co.

Moreover CoinPot itself is now offering browser mining, which I am using now instead from Moonxxx. Moonxxx as coin faucets only and coinpot as wallet + browser mining.

I am not posting any referral link as I am not sure if it's allowed or not. Please clarify if it is or not.

Soon there might be miningblockers alongside adblockers  Cheesy

In fact there already are mining blockers. Adblock plus added that functionality a few days ago.

Yes you can mine some satoshi by desktop browsers. But your electricity bill will be more then your earn. There also some website for mining. But very small share they will pay you. So for me and my suggestion is that better you buy strong desktop and buy hardware for mining to get good earning.

This coinhive is currently "popular" in faucet world and some owners are use their service to mine Monero through users CPU.Some hide it in script and others give it as option, but in general from what I can see this is waste of time and CPU.Depending of your CPU you can earn few satoshi every hour and this is just not make any sense...

One user is post this,it is just his calculation but I think there is no profit for small users in this browser mining : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1672870.1180

I'm afraid there is no website that I know of that would allow mining since the equations are getting harder and harder and the browser with a desktop can no longer handle mining bitcoins. If you want to mine you will have to get a very good graphics card with a powerful computer and a specialized system that would allow you to mine.

Owners of websites don't pay any electricity costs for mining. I don't know how these scripts work internally, but if they have 10,000 visitors on the website at any given time, and they can combine hashing power of their CPU's, they could make about 5 cents per day at current price of Bitcoin. It's really not much, but I guess it's better than nothing for some website owners. And maybe as also some people on these forums, they believe Bitcoin will go to 500,000 USD. In that case the profit wouldn't be that bad in the long run.

I think is not wise to mine using browser it gives a little hashpower and it turns your computer very slow so i advice use mining rig in mining to make a good earning

yeah i agree with you because mining in browser wont make you rich infact youl loose more in terms of paying the electricity bills if you leave your devices on just to mine bitcoins on it. i also tried mining on freebitco.in using my mobile phone and its not that really profitable and i only got 30+ satoshis for running it in an hour also your actually mining monero not a bitcoin, they are just converting it to bitcoin.

YES YOU CAN MINE WITH A BROWSER

The highest payout one I found in onlineminer.xyz

Been getting a steady $5-10 per day, although the interface is pretty rough

If you are getting $5-10 per day, then its a nice site. I will try that site and write the review here. Can you post any payment proof here from that site. Because its really difficult to believe a newbie's words. Anyways just now I registered in that site. Let me see how much I am gonna earn from it.
Guys you can also mine using faucethub.io. Check out that. Accumulated satoshis are payed directly to your faucethub.io account.

Hi

Are there any websites I can mine via a browser?

I think you can't mine via browser, and if you found some mining sites maybe it is just a big scam. They'll just waste your time, and ask you to pay first the fee before you can withdraw your mined bitcoins which isn't true. So you will lost some profits of yours, so do not easily believe on websites that is so attractive and call themselves as mining site. There are a lot of them on internet/web, think first. But try faucets similar to mining, some of them are legit websites but you can't gain enough profit from it.

Buddy, there are some sites where you can mine via browser. They are actually mining monero and pays the miner in btc. They are all legit sites. But don't expect to become rich in one day by using those sites. You can get maximum 3000 or 4000 satoshis per day if you use 4 threads of your pc to mine. You nust have heard about faucethub.io. Its the best microwallet service available at the moment. They are also providing this this type of mining. They are doing it by using coinhive.com. If you have time check out coinhive.com. You will understand everything.

Find it hard to understand that someone will use their PC for 24 hours to get only 3000 or 4000 satoshi, this is insane and only complete newbies who do not understand how little that is will try to do such thing.Power consumption it to big and what any user will do to his CPU during that time makes this operation insane.

Some user report that first PC are burned and I bet there will be many more angry and disappointed users in future.I know what FH offer and that there is warning, but most of users there so badly speaks and understands english. This lesson will unfortunately be learn the hard way.

There are not so websites, where you can mine with browser. Install BTC or altcoin mining software for this, just look on your CPU usage then too. If everything is ok, you can work with your desktop and at the same time, your computer will mine either BTC or altcoins. First of all miner must be very developed for smart mining via home computer.  Grin

It looks like a joke. You said that whether we can do mining with the desktop browser. That means you say we can do mining with the browser and you do not mean cloud mining. Look at and learn what mining means, mining requires a very heavy process and it looks impossible if we just rely on the browser. In fact currently circulating tool mining is very sophisticated and expensive. It proves that doing mining requires a very heavy process. The hardware specifications that we belong to must conform to the specific requirements that are compatible with the coin we are mining.
