You should watch out for ethereum. Metropolis on 17th! After that fork you may see an astronimical rise in the price value of ethereum. There is also spectre coin for brokerless transaction. Spectre will definitely be a game changer in a financial trading sector. Distruptive tecnology you may say!

I would advise you to invest in ethereum, because ethereum will be the most promising and safest investment.
But for the new altcoin I suggest Etherparty because etherparty has a great team and has a very good plan for the future.
If you invest now you can get 2250 FUEL tokens for 1 ethereum, believe me you will not regret it  Wink

If you want to hold altcoins that are good for 2-3 years of holding then definitely go for ethereum and neo, i know that they are like the same but they are a great competitor to each other and it is great to hold them both because it will become the reason for them to compete and maybe their price will go up higher and higher because of the competition.

The question is how much you want to earn for this period. For cryptology this is a very long time and still need to keep your hand on the pulse. Here are the coins I'd keep for such a period. BTC, Dash, LTC. These are strong coins, but there is no guarantee that buying them now, they will not return to the purchase price in 2 years

Holding a coin for 2-3 years is quite a long time, for me I rather  hold and dispose part when my  investment is 2X and invest in other potential coin, this way you spread your  portfolio and  avoid  the risk of  dump. Think through this, because every coin has an elastic limit where its tend to stabilise for a long while.

OMG is a good option. But look at waves. great platform and has its own exchange. more and more icos start projects on waves. have a look.

for next 3 years i recommend iota. its now very cheap and undervalued. uses tangle instead of blockchain. global players jump on it.

Also jumping on the OMG train. Also, decentralized exchanges are going to be so big. Also Masternode coins. Keep an eye on Blocknet and Kyber (once they have a working platform).

I will avoid the OMG platfrom, but only because I already got onto the WAVES train. And yes, this was before the price dropped below 90,000 satoshis, so I am currently in the losses area, but I'm only just going to buy more right now until it hits 100k before pausing. That to me is my two-three years altcoin holding strategy. I bet all the ETH and even LTC and Monero people had no idea what their $5 coins were ever going to be worth. And WAVES is a lot more than what anyone can see it becoming.

I would suggest Stellar Lumens, Ripple, DeepOnion, Electroneum, NoLimitCoin for long term holding. I feel that there is a lot of profit to made in the long run by HODLING these specific coins. Stay patient and positive. Grin

I would say to buy something different than all the suggestions until now.
Buy some 20-50 000 dogecoins, now they are 20 satoshi (thus their price is 0.01 bitcoins), the dogecoin will never be more than 150 satoshi, but 50 000 dogecoins *150 satoshi =0.075 bitcoins in less than 2 years! This is a good investment if you have 0.01 bitcoins to spend now.

That one is easy. The first is Ardor. It is starting up soon and will be a huge rival to Ethereum so I suggest get in now. The next is deeponion. It will grow big in 2018 and have a strong peak come 2010. Get in the free airdrops before you miss them all. Thos are my top holding coins in my portfolio.

Hey guys, I wanna hold some alts for 2-3 years. Can you advise me some? I am thinking about Bitquance, XVG, OMG, NEO....anything else?
There are a lot of altcoins out there today, and it will not be easy for us to choose which altcoin will be successful or not in years to come. I'll give you some tips, first, on how to identify good altcoins so that it can help you later decide by your own before I give my altcoins of choice.

First, look for those altcoins which are cheap. It is nice to buy bunch of coins/tokens if you plan to keep them for a long time. Thus, buying coins/tokens at cheaper price will be a great start.

Second, look for those altcoins with high market cap. Market cap (in the cryptocurrency language) refers to the total value of all the coins of a certain altcoin. That is, the current price of a coin of a certain altcoin multiplied by the total number of coins of that altcoin circulating in the market. For example, if all BTC (21M) are already mined today and all are circulating, then the market cap for BTC for today (current price is $4,500) will be approx. $94.5B (REALLY!?). That's a lot of money  Shocked (BTC has a current market cap of $76B with 16.6M coins circulating in the market).

Next is the total number of circulating supply. The higher the circulating supply of a coin, the lower the chance for it to reach its highest price. This is actually a basic concept in economics - the Law of Supply and Demand. If there's a high supply of a certain product, the tendency is that the price will be low.

Lastly (this is my personal basis), look at the history/price chart of the altcoins that you want to choose. It is good to invest to coins with a price chart that has increasing or stable (at least at a reasonable value) trend. An altcoin that comes from low value going up to higher value is, in my opinion, a good choice.

Now, I would like to give you my personal picks of altcoins which I think will be good for long term investment. My best choice will be RIPPLES - low price; although it has high circulating supply, its market cap is ranked as 3rd highest among cryptocurrencies and has a increasing trend of price chart (+ 15%). Another good choices, for me, are: WAVES - low price; although the circulating supply is high and the trend of price chart is decreasing (-11%), it has good market cap value ranked no.18. I also believe that WAVES has a bright future; and STEEM - low price; although it has high circulating supply and the trend is decreasing (-7%), it has still a good market cap value ranked no.22.

Every one is recommending Ethereum i cannot agree more that in the coming years it will be 1000 dollars.
Another altcoin worth holding is RIPPLE XRP. Its current price is very attractive. After 3 years this altcoin may even exceed the 1 dollar price.
The technology is great.
