Because to create new code for a coin isn't easy so mostly new coins are made based on Bitcoin’s open-sourced protocol and then different set of features are added to meet the creators needs.

I tend to think that such a development of the market is not development at all, but degradation. Now crypto-currencies are beginning to create politicians and celebrities. just like that, it's terrible.
