I can still remember back in 2015. I only know really few people using bitcoin services. I cannot even see any posts from my friends regarding bitcoin. But now is a very different story people are talking about it anywhere.

Sadly most of this persons from the Philippines  do not truly understand bitcoin is. All they are aiming for is its benefits and one thing that really  got my attention is that they are entering into scam sites plus promoting it.

Yes it's true that the growth of bitcoin in the Philippines is very fast. Filipinos are the most active of talking about technology. I think that bitcoin can really affect the economical status of the Philippines. It is very a big help for us to have a knowledge in working here and can help us financially.

Here in the Philippines, the growth in the knowledge about bitcoin is drastically exponential. Could bitcoin possibly influence the improvement and advancement of the Philippine's economical status? In what aspects?
Philippines is a great avenue for investment like Bitcoin. Filipinos are very open minded when it comes to technology and improvement. As seen, many of successfulll investors come from Philippines. The Phil. Government has nothing against Bitcoin and they should continue that. What they need to monitor are those ICOs and coins who are not legit and all scam. I think social awareness can increase Bitcoin user population.

To those who are saying that filipinos are greedy, don't say that and generalized. I think there are some who are no complying with the rules, bu there are also compliant and you can see their post are very sensible.

There are nimble guys live in Southeast Asia, they trim the sails to the wind. They need to crowl out from powerty. Earn only on drugs is not the best idea, all the more they can be killed for it. It's better to have deals with bitcoins.

So bad to see how people look filipinos here in the forum, but there were really fact, most filipino here totally posting not that constructive posts but just trying to earn btc they try their best with that.

In fact we can see in the Philippines that they are so active in earning btc and learning btc too. They have plenty of group in social media in related to btc and I heard they have some group meetings around the Philippines too, that is how active they are.

It's great to see the growth of Bitcoin in the Phillipinnes. There's many services available that are popular thus in the phillippines there is not much need for using the LocalBitcoins.com service - but if you are interested to see the growth in other countries, this link shows it:

Amazing to see global trade growth on localbitcoins as well (scroll down to see all the individual countries:

I'm Southeast Asian myself, and I've seen how three countries from there are particularly quick to pick up on things like Bitcoin: Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia. Yes, they're "crazy" about Bitcoin and were probably crazier about it a lot earlier than their neighbours were. They experienced the same with an entire slew of digital currencies since the late 1990s. Paypal, Liberty Dollar, e-gold.

Unfortunately, and I know a lot of people from this region will disagree with me, this had less to do with ideology than with the ever-present pursuit of financial freedom - from fragile economies, from poverty, from the cycle of the rat race. The people from these countries are famously entreprenuerial - you need only look at how Philippine has made domestic helpers sending money from abroad its #1 GDP. Or how Singapore, without much resources, has a strong knowledge and IT industry.

So yes, a lot of them are in this for the money. And for better or worse, they're promoting Bitcoin, supporting its use through whatever means - gambling, HYIPs (law enforcement also notes long-term syndicates cycling HYIPs since the 90s)...

There's a complex mix of the Southeast Asian setup - high IT knowledge, low education, low literacy, English as a second or third language, fixed incomes below $200 - that rightly or wrongly makes them appear the way they do even here on this forum. I fit all of those too, with only my income changing when I started working outside my country more than 15 years ago.

But if Bitcoin truly seeks to achieve mainstream adoption, this will be the demographics of its majority. More than two thirds of the world reside in Asia Pacific, where all those traits are similar.

Yes, I totally agree. Just known bitcoin this year and have known more people who just recently been active and enthusiast. What make it popular I think the benefits of it. Filipinos are really hard working and very persistent. If someone know that you could earn bitcoin and gain profit from it, it will attract many people and they will really strive hard to achieve their goal. Nowadays, internet is also very accessible here in the Philippines, there are lots of promos to have low cost data usage so the more people use the internet, the more people will know about bitcoin. By the way, I'm a Filipino too.Smiley

most likely users of the signature competition are from the Philippines, and they have their signature contest to earn more money.
And I've seen this often, because I'm active in the Meta section of this forum, and everyone in SMAS comes from phillipines

A lot of filipinos are now using bitcoin and this could help us to improve our life economically. Philippines government should accept this kind of system and a lot of exchanges are showing some interest on putting on a business in the growing economy of the Philippines.
Filipino people was a trying hard to learn about bitcoin to aiming for those they earning from bitcoin, they adopt bitcoin in oder to have an extra income for their basic needs. Who knows more using bitcoin are filipino people maybe someday also their government legalize bitcoin and many companies will using bitcoin in paying online.

Good to know that the bitcoin economy in Philippines is growing and I know that Filipino's are starting to become crazy about bitcoin and not only you people but all other races too. And I saw a thread here before that the central bank there approved bitcoin and made it legal.

Could bitcoin possibly influence the improvement and advancement of the Philippine's economical status? In what aspects?
Yes it will, as long as any country will support bitcoin for sure it will increase it's economical status. In terms of remittance I know that you've got a lot of overseas workers and that is making the economy of Philippines good because of the money that coming from your fellow countrymen throughout the world and this can happen with bitcoin too.

Philippines has already allowed bitcoin as a remittance currency.Recently,it has also granted license for two bitcoin exchanges.Philippinese who work abroad have found bitcoin as the best way to send their earnings to their home country. So,the government has taken a stand much friendly to bitcoin.

Bitcoin platforms like Coins.ph, BuyBitcoin.ph and Rebit.ph, are so much popular in Philippines as they have simple user interfaces.

Philippines has a well established Bitcoin infrastructure  and definitely, bitcoin related businesses have a very good future in philippines.

I thibk it wil help a lot , given the fct that numerous count of people has been recognizing bitcoin as their wayno gain profit I think there is abig possibility that through bitcoin's potential Philippine's economic status wil improve with the help of exchanges happening inside bitcoin where in Filipinos were involve. Additionally, Filipinos were known for being harworking people and it will never shocke if they(we) are one of the best wokers in bitcoin.

I doubt... I am currently in the Philippines and most people from here who use bitcoins do not really know what bitcoin is all about. Majority of the people involved in bitcoins who I met earn them thru faucets and they don't even know that Poloniex nor Bitfinex exists. Probably, its because the government likes our people to remain uneducated financially so that they can keep them under control. On the other hand, I guess once the Filipinos learned the full concept of cryptocurrency, the government itself will be useless.

it would be nice if made some groups that can provide important information about scam-scam webs that can harm your own community and generally community bitcoin new users in the Philippines
