How long do coins that are staked in a masternode stay there?  Are they removable at any time?  Or is there some sort of collateral that is lost by taking down an MN?

Also, what happens if a masternode loses internet connection for a while?

The funds that are stored on the MN are at the disposal of the owner, at any time you can transfer the entire amount or not all. But if there is less than 1000 DSR on the balance of the MN, MN will not work.

If the MN loses the internet connection, then the wallet will hang on the last available block. When the Internet connection is restored, MN will continue its work.

I'm just created the remote masternode (with cold wallet as a masternode control wallet). And I can see payments to my msternode address in block explorer. But then I execute 'desire-cli getinfo' I can see only 1000 DSR on my wallet balance? Why I can't see (and transfer) payments recieved by my masternode?
