Depends on the coin you choose . If the coin grows , you get more profit . But in general if you join in early days, you wont loose much for sure.

Is the dev around here somewhere? I STRONGLY recommend adding a proof-of-stake capability in the out years (months) of this coin's lifecycle. Proof of work alone is simply too slow to obtain verifications during hashrate lulls at high difficulty. This coin needs to be faster in order to compete. Currently can't hold a candle to either Force or Xios w.r.t. transaction time. Please consider.
And yes I second the weak hands comment. Let the weak hands dump - I just picked up another MN today for like under $300 lol.

Depends on the coin you choose . If the coin grows , you get more profit . But in general if you join in early days, you wont loose much for sure. Thanks bro. well I'm watching the masternods at http://mnrank.com/ and https://masternodes.pro/ and https://masternodes.online/I got the following conclusion: for the new coins: 1- all new coins come up with high ROI. 2- the ROI reduces gradually upon the increasing number of the masternodes owners. 3-the masternode price fluctuates up and down from its starting price with about 50%. 4-the masternode price of some of these new coins come back to the starting price and others never come back for the old coins more than one year: 1- the ROI is relatively low ( average 50% more or less) 2- the masternode price fluctuates about 20% up or down but orverall the masternode price is considered somehow stable. so finally I got to think that investing in masternodes is risky though yielding consistent income

@devs can you add the mercatox market on coinmarketcap? I believe this will help with the fluctuations of the price.

"status": "Not capable masternode: Invalid protocol version" Ok, I set up a freshly installed Ubuntu VPS with the current version ( https://github.com/lazyboozer/Desire) and I still got above problem. So I suppose there is sth wrong with the version? I might try an older version, lets see if this works

I am running the latest version (0.12.2.1 or 120201). Anyway, it seems to work now and the error disappeared. I think the problem was caused because I didn't update my local wallet (so I had an older local version)

Regarding Recent Price Action
Hey guys, I've been following this fairly closely over the last couple weeks and am invested with a few masternodes.
Partly what happened recently was a pump n dump. 4 or 5 days ago DSR did 1 Million volume in a day at CoinsMarkets. That was the pump, price was stable before at around $0.50 and it went up to about $0.75. Lots of people (not the brightest) just buy when things are going up. Well they bought high and a bunch of people sold. The people that got stuck near the top in this little pump n dump have been pissed off posting stupid stuff in this thread and then selling at a loss.
This is a low-cap cryptocurrency. There will be lots of pumps n dumps along the way. It comes with the territory.
I'd like to know more about what's happening and possibly wrong regarding the mining side. I think its important that we have both a strong mining community and strong masternode community.

@drago777 you might find this useful: This masternode tutorial was quite useful: https://medium.com/@rmarle70/desire-masternode-setup-guide-ubuntu-125b148280baAdditional comments and tips: - no need to build Desire from scratch, just download the tar.gz release - you can’t use Ubuntu 16.04, use 14.04 (some libs aren’t compatible) - secure your VPS! (UFW, Fail2Ban, limit SSHD to key auth, disable root) - use SSH key authentication and elevate with sudo if necessary - keep your VPS up to date with unattended-upgrades - UFW: tcp/9919 from anywhere, tcp/22 from your IP - install the sentinel as well - the sentinel requires additional settings in desire.conf - the RPC port should be different from your daemon port - generate complex RPC username and password
