I've never been a scam victim in an ICO project for the simple fact of investigating where I'm putting my money by looking for github, the team behind, the authenticity of the project, and everything. There was a project a week ago called Sentry that they were suspicious from the start calling themselves the Stratis Killer, Waves killer and I warned a lot of people not to get into it but everyone was talking shit to me and saying I was a "fudder". In the end the fact was confirmed and the pilangers stole more than 100 ethereum.

A lot of people have been scammed by icos lately, and there is nothing new with it because a lot of them are only created to raise a lot of funds, and the make the founders run away from that, it is common nowadays, maybe the half of them are scam, and they all are making false promises to their investors, like saying that they are going to have 3000% return if they invest, it is so easy to find an ico like that in this forum.
That is why i never invest in this kind of programs, it is too risky for me.

I didn't invest in any ICO yet. But I count myself Asa part of the ICO when I'm working for their promotion at the current moment  Smiley When Multibot ICO will be over all participants of the commercial in the way of signature campaign will get some tokens and it's going to be my first experience about getting some other altcoin, but not BTC.

Have you ever been scammed in an ico,
How?

You know if you have been scammed if you invested on it and never got the promised dividend or tokens. Or if you joined the bounty campaign and at the end, no coins what distributed among its participants. That's how someone get scammed. I personally never been scammed and the only ICO I have joined already paid me as well. I was not scammed because I joined an ICO that has trust and name on it. And that I'm very optimistic that they wouldn't run of the investors money. Though there are really alot of bounties not paying their participants and investors. You can check it out on the scam accusation or reputation section. There is really a lot of risk involved in ICO's, and you are lucky if you find one that really gave good returns in the end.

It's not just scams.  Another problem is with crap ICOs.  These are ICOs that are not necessarily trying to scam, but they have flawed ideas, or they are clued out about the limitations of the blockchain.  Because so many people want to host ICOs, they are putting anything and everything onto the blockchain.  Most of these won't work.  However, investors are not aware of their flaws.

Actually I didn't have and experience of being scammed by icos but my friend has an experience and I said that he should be careful always in joining ico's,and he experience posting and giving time to the campaign or posting many in forums but when the end of campaign and distribution he didn't get any single amount of bitcoin that's why it is very hard for him,so in that ,every time he joins campaigns and ICO he is searching deep information's and more knowledge for him to be secured.

Unfortunately people only listen to you when the shit is already thrown in the fan. I am always warning of fraudulent icos and bad faith people who exist in the world of crypto-coins. I was charged with several things in the official Sentry chat when I repeatedly warned about the risk of investing. Now a guy from the chat is desperate sending pm to me because he lost 2k usd and it was the only money he had and was saving for a good investment. All I can say now it's that I am sorry for them. You're a smart guy for not putting money on it. I think lessons have been learned.

You have to setup your process:
  * due diligence on the team, and do some research in LinkedIn
  * looking to Github and see the commits
  * search in Google Trends
It worked for me.

Initially I started to participate in the crypto market I had encountered CrazyBet project and have invested in it a little. And before the ICO was over, people realized it was a scam project. It seemed like I was losing my mind because that was the amount of money I was trying to save to invest in and then I started to scrutinize other projects before making the investment decision.

The latest SCAM ICO that I've heard about was ORENPlatform. They raised about 50k dollars and removed all there resources: website, social accounts, etc. Though they had a quite good whitepaper, so the project itself looked reliable, but you never know when you'll be scammed.

Yes, I have experienced it when I invest token in a project that is being developed by ICO under the pretext of being in the process of distributing the token I invested. but until now it just disappeared and I think it is a SCAM of course this is very detrimental to me and it can be a valuable lesson that we must be really competive in choosing ICO to invest. I think it's best to look for an accurate inpormation in choosing ICO because in fact not a few ICO's are SCAM.

Long time ago, before this recent ICO mania. But it wasn't a bad investment.

Nowadays, I would not put a single dime on it.

Have you ever been scammed in an ico,

Luckily I have never joined a scam ICO because I'm not the person that is just going with the flow here in forum or even in social media.

There's a lot of people promoting there their referral links about a certain ICO and it's mostly like some are just into it because of the hype about the bonuses but not knowing what's the real project behind it.

And they don't even know who are the developers, they are not doing their own assignment about those projects.

Anyone willing to participate in any ICO really needs to do their homework beforehand. Every piece of information needs to be verifiable. In the end it's up to you to decide whether the idea is worth investing in.

I truly hope that there are less and less scams. This is such a fantatic way to allow inovations and inventions to be born that could never previously of happened.

Its the age of the ICO. Sadly there will be the minority few - like everything in life that will probably eventually spoil it.

Not yet but looks like I'm about to be a victim of a scam ICO for the first time.
I'm not saying which company it is because nothing is still clear about it.

But all I can say is that we ,investors, were supposed to get our tokens on October 11 and they modified the website to say that we are going our tokens at the end of the month.

Even if it turns out to be legit, I don't like the fact that they decided to change their dates without asking or telling the community. On the pay day, they just changed it. It really looks fishy but let's not jump into conclusions.

Thank god I did not put except $50 or less in it.

So far, so good. Actually, i am just new in this forum and recently, i am participating in campaign of one of the ICOs here. I am just hoping that i am not participating an ICO which is a scam because before i joined, i do background checks of the team at LinkedIn, visit their website, and of course read their white paper regarding how and what their goals of their ICO and if it is feasible or not.

Well, hopefully im in the right track.

If you're being tired from SCAM ICO's .
I will suggest you look into CRYPTOGENE ICO.
They've got a nice project focusing on Africans, Nice and Experienced Developers, Great community , International partnership and lots more.

Go through their whitepaper , Invest only time as the ICO is still on.

luckily I wasn't scammed. Ofc if Ethereum isn't a scam, I hope it is not
for me all this stuff with crypto looks like gold rush. And in my opinion now we have more ppl involved in investing that give possibilities to scammer become rich. It was always, if ppl are not very smart someone try to stole their money.  I still believe we have no scam ico, but we need to know everything  abt project and smart enough to recognized scam. I make a little investigation abt confideal and almost sure that it nit scam and very powerful ico

Am yet to start investing in ICO, but base on my observation and reasearch lots of investors are use to following the crowd without personal research on project they intend to invest in, the crypto world is not a get reach quick platform, you must be patient enough to understand what they are out to offer, the team involve.Scammers are out in there multitude, but knowledge will reduce and minimize your risk.

Is too early to know which ICOs are scams. Most ICOs are new and have long way to go until we know for fact whats going on. Many ICOs will fail because an ICO is a set of ideas, is people fail to develop them it doesn't mean also that are scammers. When you invest you know the risks. ICOs are high risk investments with high returns

Before you invest on a project you have to do your own research always. As you said all informations must be clarified by the team and if you know that the project is legit, you have to know the team behind the project and they must give a costumer protection for example, if the project's ICO fails all the invested money will be given to the investors.

From now, I've been never victims of scam by ICO's. To avoid in the hands of scam we should be research and analyze always in joining ico's. We need to convince an ico's if it is real or scam. Know all members who participated in ico's. More members in ICO's it is possible a real and not scam. Mostly icos are scam and we need to be alert in all projects.

Saying that there will be 3000% return of investment is a red flag; it's one of the many signs of a scam.

There has been numerous ICO scams these days and because of this it has discouraged investors to invest on ICOs however there are still some ICOs there that are worth investing on. This also the reason why there has been news that there will be ICO regulations and ICO bans in other countries. We just have to be cautious by researching thoroughly before making an investment.

Im really getting into ICO..If you do your research you can turn a good profit quickly. Yesterday i invested heavily in COBINHOOD (CBO) only minutes before the ICO ended. By this morning im profiting 50%. Usually i'd be happy and sell it for a quick return but some with potential ill hold.. I highly recommend investing in ICO. Just know what your putting your money into beforehand so you dont end up with a pile of useless coins. Majority of ICO are in it to win it.

I believe there was many but I was scammed by one and that was for the first and last time. It was turbo coin ICO which I worked for in bouties. The coin sucked and they never paid me a dime from the project. Also the coin stands at 1000+ number now which a shameful ICO. Lols. They ran away with the money I guess. The ICO was very good in initial stages but later on everything was suck-o-fraud-ICO  Roll Eyes

Only one thing to do in these situations, the more info you got about the ICO, the more you can tell if it's a fake or not, if not that, get in touch with developers of that ICO, you might just get true nature of their doings. Or you can turn to community on forum, but also, now there are sites, that approves if an ICO is legit or not.

Yes, I was in a signature campaign in Enigma Catalyst and it was said there that we will be paid with tokens but still we haven't received any token from them. It's okay if the ICO fails and the payment is not made, If payment is not made and the ICO succeed well it is a scam. We just have to trust on our initial conviction or judgement of the ICO then luck is all we can hold onto if the ICO will be a scam or not.

I have never been scammed before and I really do not think I can ever be scammed. I do not just invest blindly in an ICO, I look at the team first, the project and product and the feasibility of the project being successful.

However, if you can do a proper digging on a team, I do not see how you can end up being scammed, highest that can ever happen is the coin taking too much time to grow or the project eventually not succeeding which giving the chances, they are usually close to impossible.

18 dollars per week is kinda fishy like right now there's also an ongoing ico and there's a lof of participants that trust it so I just wish them well like I hope they'll not get scam.
It's hard to tell whether an ICO is legit or not because there are some ICO that started well and just end up fraud like the dev didn't even bother to update what's up in their ICO.

The night before I read about it being a scam I was bummed out that I didn't buy in. In hindsight I was lucky.
The truth is that the gullible ones will never listen to you and sometimes they will even argue blindly to the point that you may start feeling like you are wrong and just have to keep quiet to watch the way tides will shift and then you see some crying wolf and shitting in their pants that they have been scammed.

If you are smart, there is no way you can ever be scammed cause the whole thing will be glaring from the start.

Good for you, mate. So far you are one of the few ICO investors that had never gone through the bitter experience of being scammed by an ICO. But looking at your signature, I was thinking you are not very picky in terms of projects and who handled them. If I am not mistaken, Pundi is a project handled by ColorlessK. This person is highly controversial to me. He has failed a number of times already.

Anyone willing to participate in any ICO really needs to do their homework beforehand. Every piece of information needs to be verifiable. In the end it's up to you to decide whether the idea is worth investing in.

I never had an experience that an ICO that i participated into is a scam , but there is a few ICO that i can say that they never scam but their ICO has just failed becaused they do not reached their accumulated hardcap in the end. Not all ico are scams , most of the ico is good you just have to research first before joining or investing in an ICO.

Many scam ico out there, they hiring someone to make fake information. After the crowdsale, if that ico was really hot then they will push the price up to get more profit. Many scam ico and investors should research before invest anythings.

Once a scam is outed, getting your money back is always a long shot. Sharing your experience with the community will help to put a stop to it happening further and save others from the same outcome. If a company wants to keep a good repor, they will drop their shady practices and make right their wrongs. I've seen it happen several times.

Have you ever been scammed in an ico,

So far, I have not encountered a personal experience of ICO scamming. There were ICOs whose tokens took a very long time to recover even their ICO price. But everything ended up worth it in one way or another. I was once a part of Opus Foundation community of supporters. I had several OPT tokens. I am not a dumper by nature and so I continued to hold on to it for a long time. I waited for the most perfect timing for me to finally sold some Opus Tokens.

I invested into less than 10 ICOs this year, two of which never return to their ICO price since the first day.
I am not sure if I should call them scam yet, since the team is still working on it.
Anyway, I made some profit from these ICOs as a whole.

Yes, making can view their code, then know they did some of what thing, I am a technician, by judging the quality of the code can be judged whether the project technical personnel have the ability to complete the ICO.

Have you ever been scammed in an ico,

So far as of now on all the ICO i have invested. I didnt able to experience on being scammed which i do hope that i wont really experience one because losing out money on those investment wont really be simple. This is why i do make research carefully on such projects and the team behind before i do decide to put up money. Its better to have negative floating profits than on those instances which funds being collected had been ran off.

Yes, i had before but luckly it's not that big. I only lost 0.03 bitcoin and back then the price of bitcoin is not high like right now. The owner of the project run away and scammed $1m from the ICO. That scum has a good project but you know people changes when he get much money on his hand.

I have not invested in ico. I only get free ICO cards by joining the bonus campaign. there are many scams ico. So I work as free. And I have also earned a few thousand dollars from participating in the ico through bonuses campaign. need to see the development team. how does that project work? Then you can avoid phishing scams. Avoid losing your money

I just listened by searching of the internet that ICOs are coming fake. But, now I tell you that not all are fake but only few. And these few are fake because the are not able to reach their soft cap for the fundraising. For which they have to either postponed their project or completely abandoned the project.

You never try, so you never lose. That is fine.
But if you can do your own research, I'd recommend you take part in some ICO that you really believe in.

I have experienced joining bounty campaign once and not being payed the correct amount that i should receive after the end of campaign and that was cartaxi ico. You should always check the manager of campaign and developer if they can really be trusted before investing or or joining the campaign.

Those who have been scammed have been ignorant to their coins not attending their progress and the duration of their ICO. Theres no way you will be scammed if you just trade or sold their coin for a quick money. But if youre sighting a good start you may invest all you want.

Ico is risky investment, but high risk high return. For those who got scammed buy any ico, that is great chance to learn new lesson and experience. For those prepare to join any ico, they must research clear everything to avoid scam project.

It is not easy to avoid getting scammed if you participate in lots of ICOs.
As long as you can filter the obvious scams, and only invest the top ones, you will make good profit.

I havent been scammed personally, but heard and saw a lot of horror stories, like Confido scam (the team was not reachable and their profile looked highly faked) so I always try to do research and due diligence and look clearly whos is the team and make sure they really do exist!
Another friend invest into a Crypto and soon realized that the team Github had no meaningful update since a year (compared to what they where claiming to their site) very scary aswell!

I have not yet invested on ICO, that is not because I am afraid of investing on ICO. I have just joined this business and yet lot to learn. But whenever I contribute to any project a look at their scope, their plan, purpose and specially their team.  We should really dig into the details of their team, github of LinkedIn may come in handy for this. Some projects come with big mouths, but no any proofs for their future. There are lot of resources with the internet, so use it and dig their pits before investing.

If you can do as you said, you will be good at picking up the best projects.
I wish I could do the same, but I usually don't.
I usually follow some resource I trust.

actually all ico's are okay the only problem that it looks like a scam is when you did not get a profit or sometimes
the price or value after ico is low, the reason why is because of investor who dump the coin so early to get profit
that is the reason i see why all icos that dont get to see a high price is because of that and in return they are being called
scam that is my opinion

PopulTrade - in my opinion these scammers. I participated in the bounty, spent more than 2 months on them, and they literally closed yesterday. And most likely I like the rest of the bounties will not get anything.

I'm very often exposed to ico scam, but I never experienced financial losses, because I just follow the bounty campaign, but it still sucks because it is a waste of time and effort

It is normal my friend, 4 out of 10 icos are scam nowadays, you should be very aware of that, and if you join a bounty that ends up being a scam, it is because you joined one being a blind guy. Most of icos who raise more than millions are never gonna scam

I'm very often exposed to ico scam, but I never experienced financial losses, because I just follow the bounty campaign, but it still sucks because it is a waste of time and effort

Have you ever been scammed in an ico,
How?

there are more people who are get scammed by ICOs because investors will place their investments through their hard-earned money and then that ICO will not give you any coins or some will give but never bump on coin exchanges or even on www.coinmarketcap.com
I haven't been scammed by ICOs because I never invested any altcoins on their ICO stage but instead I just wait for them to hit coin exchanges and but coins as many as I like.
A friend of mine has been scammed for worth of 3.6 Eth and I don't think it's painful for Him.

even if you're spending more time on research regarding a specific altcoin or ICOs but scam and fake ICOs are too good to be true.
the only way to not get scammed is to wait for them to appear on coinmaketcap.com or crypto exchanges so that will ensure that they're not scam or fraud.
you can do research about ICOs and altcoins but nothing's safer when you do hi invest on crypto exchanges especially if their trading volume is consistent and higher than $50,000 daily.

Not I was not. There were cases when ICO was not successful and all my money were given back. To avoid scam I often deeply research the project. I read white paper attentively. My advice is also to pay attention whether the projects has a ready-made product as it is some kind of guarentee that it is not a scam as well as  long termed activity before ICO. It is an indicator that team goes stright to thir goal and will not give up.

very unfortunate even though we only follow the prize and not as an investor, but our time is wasted to support until the project reaches success, and in the end we get nothing, what we have to get from what we have done of course will be futile , I've also experienced - things like that, so we should be more observant to follow the project, and follow bountynya, I think the manager is also very influential.

No and the only reason why I don't get scammed is because I stopped putting my money into ICOs as way too many of the icos we have now are scams and when I see an ico that I am interestd in, I just look up the bounty and signature campaign and participate in them and get the coins as rewards without having to buy it with my own money and that way I mitigate all the risks.

yes, I was once a victim of fraud on the ICO. I am very angry and I am disappointed at the ICO because I have worked for the ICO.
now I will be more careful if I want to join ICO.

Hi, I'm sorry that you have joined scam ICO. Actually, I have lost a lot with Bitconnect so I'm kinda not in this stuff anymore, but as for revenge for us I've found guys who are revealing  scam. You make take a look, it may be still useful for you: https://shitcoinoffering.com/double-scam-4-anti-fraud-projects-that-turned-out-to-be-frauds/

don't get too panicked with the ICO that scam. Because now it's an awful lot of the ICO project is indeed opportune for the scam. So you are good as more careful and selective in choosing projects. When it's already got scam, should immediately move on to the other projects.

Anyone willing to join in any ICO really needs to do their homework beforehand. Every piece of information needs to be verifiable.  it's up to you to decide whether the idea is worth investing in.

Have you ever been scammed in an ico,
How?

I am still a newbie in this business but I have read a lot of scam stories involving ICO and they all differ, if you bought in an Ico that looks like a legit project but the team fails to deliver or did not manage to get their token in any exchanges, I still consider this as a scam site.

Once I was involved in a bounty project with an ico that turned out to be either a scam or just an incompetent team... Since then I'm more careful on what bounties to be a part of.

One of the main rules - do not trust what is written on your site project. Check everything yourself!
Do not forget that from the idea to its implementation - not one step, and to come up with a product - does not mean to create it. Very often, startups "burn out" when faced with unforeseen problems. Someone becomes bankrupt after the implementation of their start-up, and someone does not take up the implementation at all.

Most likely everyone faced fraud. I also had this experience-and not once. I try not to get too upset - and it is better to analyze the project before participating in it

I was few times but fortunately it was not the ICO investment of mine but it was the participating in the bounty of mind if you are scammed in the Bounty process it is much easier than you will be scammed with your investment.

In reality, tokens offerings on rare occasions are simple hoax. I think that the perceptible problem turns out to be generally one atrocious economic management.

I think the ICO project is not a scam. There are many good and bad ICO projects so you should find out before investing. At present there are many potential ICO projects. If you have the right investment and selective you will achieve what you want.

A topic from the end of 2017 asking about ICO scam, so can confirm the problem ICO scam has been going on for so long, and to this point, the ICO scam rate has reached more than 80% of the total number of ICO projects daily life. An alarming number and a need for control over the feasibility and potential of ICO projects.
