Ethereum has seen a huge rise in its adoption as the platform new startups use in implementing their projects.
However, there are other platforms such as Waves that can do the same things Ethereum does ( even easily as Waves does not require any programming skills). Why can't new startups use the Ethereum alternatives? Is there any uniqueness in Ethereum that other platforms don't have? What makes Ethereum the in-thing?
actually there is nothing special with ethereum but maybe people are very comfortable just holding this atlcoins so ethereum still be target many people |

I think Ethereum is more stable cryptocurrency than bitcoin its not high volatile like bitcoin. Now a days most of the new startups of coins launching their coins on the ethereum platform & alternative of ethereum is waves platform but I dont see new startups took interest to launch their coins on Waves platform but they gave priority to ethereum and on the other hand mining of ethereum is also good to earn good money that's why ethereum is very special.

If you look closely you will notice that the rise in the value of Etherium has taken place starting from April of this year when it went parabolic. I believe that this was due to the ICO fever the we just witnessed and due to smart contracts eth was the obvious choice of most of the ICO's.

Saying ethereum is not volatile like bitcoin is wrong. I remember ethereum dropped down to $180 from $400 within weeks on this summer. It was showing ethereum is also very volatile and it's not something price stable. The special aspect of ethereum for me is that ERC token technology and smart contracts which let developers to utilize several tools. |

Ethereum is in demand mainly by developers wishing to create and use their own applications within Ethereum platform. According to the official description, this cryptocurrency can be used to “encode, decentralize, secure and trade almost anything.” That is why it is so special!  |

As many pointed out, i'd just like to give you my experience with ethereum these past few days (and invite you to try for yourself). I made a bunch of eth and erc20 token transfers to and from etherdelta (decentralized exchange) and almost all tx's went through on the next few blocks in less than a minute, costing around $0.02 each one... Tell me this isn't freakin awesome!!

It's not special at all, there are many other platform based crypto that can compete with eth like NEM and ARK, what makes it stand out though is it's "early-mover" advantage. They obviously hyped it a lot to gain market attention, and that's where new projects notice it first before seeing other platform based crypto options to build the ICO's on. You can do the same analogy with privacy coins, Dash and XMR has the top spot in that category, but it doesn't make them special at all when it comes to features. Deep Onion is a great competitor to them, has a whole lot more features (like DeepVault, DeepSend etc.) but it isn't in the top spot yet as dash and xmr had the early mover advantage, same as ETH. But one thig is for sure, DO, would definitely go up in the future, so try to own a piece of the coin if you want to go to the moon  As for eth, no one can tell the future of it, it may have the top spot now but someone will surely take over it in a few years to come if they can't keep up. |

I think ethereum coins was in demand to the developers, because they want to improve it. I think they want to see the limitation of this coin. Developers of this altcoin are continue study this ethereum coin because they believe that this coin was surpass the bitcoin in the future. Otherwise I believe that this coin have an ability to survive in the future. |

Ethereum is so special, because Ethereum's development is very powerful and there are many fans, Ethereum's high computational power so the network is also very safe, the same Ethereum block is not very congested.

Because its smart contract is currently widely used You can see the simplest thing by looking at the airdrop tokens Most of 'em were made on top of Ethereum Blockchain right?  |

My in opinion Because Ethereum is always different coin on the other alt coin. Etherum is favorite coin for everybody i think and this is always specially for me. Now ethrum position is the top level in crypto currency platform. |

I do not think its special but its popular because it has fast confirmation times or faster Block times and the use of smart contracts makes it a favorable for other projects to build their crypto-projects and I think devs are readily available to implement any new code that makes it more robust and efficient. Ethereum is getting really popular nowadays in the crypto world.
it is getting popular but not growing in value, keeps trading in the $280 - $ 350 price range and its been like this for quite a long time. |

Erthereum is second the best coin after bitcoin, is very easy for use. ETH is devoid of errors. I reccomend erthereum and also a lot of people have a good opinion for it.

In waves platform you can't take your tokens to exchanges, you can only change it to Waves token, as I heard
