If you look at the market, you will see that the price of Ethereum is the best among other Altcoin or other crypto besides Bitcoin. Why is that ? Because I think ETH has a good platform and protocol. Some says that one day, ETH price can surpass the price of Bitcoin.

Are you sure about this, hero? I think there are still some projects out there that are as good or even better by Ethereum. With regards to friendly platform, I don't think it's a proper term but I'd rather say its a trusted and compatible type of token contract which has lots of projects this year. Because ethereum blockchain is so adoptable and those other networks are so hassle to add on some exchange while in ethereum you can easily add them up whenever devs like it to add on the exchange they like(except bittrex) But to know more about this I think the best thing you can do is to read/watch some video blogs on why ethereum is the first choice of altcoin creators.

I don't know, maybe is the network effect? Ether was the first coin to offer this possibilities and build a network of supporters that started using their features. Maybe these new coins, like waves or neo, don't really offer that much of innovation, enough to start taking people away from ethereum. Not saying this is the case, because I mainly support bitcoin. But if most of the ICO investors are on the ethereum network, then ICOs will continue to use because there is where the money is, and when you are creating an ICO, it doesn't make sense to create it on all the platforms, so you create on the bigger one, since the other options don't offer any great improvements. This is just my opinion and I could be wrong of course.

My understanding is its because of smart contract application in block chain technology. There are opportunities to mine ETH with decent profit by using GPU mining rigs.

It's not special at all, there are many other platform based crypto that can compete with eth like NEM and ARK, what makes it stand out though is it's "early-mover" advantage. They obviously hyped it a lot to gain market attention, and that's where new projects notice it first before seeing other platform based crypto options to build the ICO's on.

You can do the same analogy with privacy coins, Dash and XMR has the top spot in that category, but it doesn't make them special at all when it comes to features. Ethereum is easy to use and can easily understand, especially if you are a newbie and just starting into alternative coins. Other platforms have already adopted ETH which does make it more versatile and available to other users. Also, ICO's started to boom due to ETH technology which is seconded by WAVES, but the ETH still has the upper hand on this.
