The name Hawala.Today takes inspiration from the ancient Arabic money transfer system. But unlike it, where the third party is another person, Hawala.Today utilizes escrow to act as a neutral executor of the transactions. We aim to provide people a reliable and easy way to convert crypto-fiat currencies through a P2P platform based on the trusty Ethereum blockchain.
Users will be able to send out a request, get bids in response from people nearby, choose which bid to accept. Simple as that!
One of the key features of Hawala.Today is the goal to provide the average individual an option to buy into crypto easily with the payment methods available to them. Currently, not many options exist that offer quick and cheap conversions for fiat-cryptocurrency trades. In majority of the world’s countries, financial systems are not very streamlined or adaptive. This leaves a large portion of the global market untapped.
With Hawala.Today’s smartphone app, the user will love the ease with which they can now access cryptocurrency. The fact that you can liquidate your tokens to cash by just searching for someone nearby and setting up a meeting point, all with a few simple steps, is key to our vision for Hawala.Today. FeaturesWhat sets Hawala.Today apart? Granted there are a few projects that are based on a fiat – crypto currency exchange model, but Hawala.Today’s model is designed to minimize the required technical knowledge for operation to barely nothing.
DiscoverThe app uses discovery mode to search for trades near the user. A lot like finding an Uber ride. You write up a request order and send it out. First bidder shows up on your screen and you can proceed with executing the deal or choose to cancel. In two simple steps, you make trades across a secure P2P exchange.
Cash CardThe Hawala Cash Card will allow the user to purchase HAT tokens with fiat currency. The user will enter the code into the app and receive the relevant amount of HAT. The cash card will be made available just like mobile prepaid cards, at general outlets globally.
WalletThe Hawala Wallet will be the main point of access to your crypto tokens. You will be able to add all ERC-20 tokens, as the app develops. You will be able to add an ‘On Demand’ wallet for Non ERC-20 tokens. All your token addresses will be listed on the main wallet page and your balance will display in tokens and their value-equivalents in USD, GBP or EUR.
AML / KYC ScreeningUsers on the Hawala.Today platform will undergo verification as per the AML and KYC standards. We intend for this project to succeed and believe in being vigilant and proactive. Only verified users will be capable of moving tokens worth over $600.
INCENTIVE FOR STAKE (IFS)Hawala will integrate Incentive for Stake algorithm to create organic demand for mass adoption, where holders will earn incentives from up to 15% to 7.27% in the final 10th year. There will only ever be 7,000,000 HAT.

The distribution of HAT tokens will be done in three categories –
Low, Mid, High.
LOW – Entries with fresh wallet addresses. Zero activity wallet addresses are suspicious because they are likely to be secondary wallets for the same person. We have opted for a reduced drop for this group.
MID – Entries that passed all verification but were not members of our Telegram community. These participants will receive the standard number of tokens.
HIGH – Entries who joined Telegram community before registration closed for Round 1. This group will receive bonus tokens over the standard number of tokens.

During the verification process, we dealt with 10,000 entries. Each entry was scrutinized and all suspicious entries have been removed from the drop. This totals to just over 3,000 registrations. Our foremost interest during this process was fairness to the community. There were several entries which were genuine mistakes and the people reached out to us as well. We have accommodated this by accepting the more updated entry.
There was also the case of wallet addresses with zero activity. In good faith, we are allowing for a reduced drop, primarily because the other information provided checked out with our terms and conditions. We also realize that we need to be more specific and aim to improve hereon.
