HAT.Exchange embodies a lot of things we believe are crucial in a distributed peer-to-peer exchange. Solving the issues plaguing existing decentralized platforms was one of our foremost motivations in setting the goals and architecture of HAT.Exchange. We recently moved into the beta phase, after successfully establishing a framework of all app mechanics and features. We are extremely excited and looking forward to our community’s feedback, which we believe will enable us to meet the goals we’ve set for HAT.
One of the cornerstones of HAT.Exchange is the community of token holders. You are the present and future of this ecosystem. The HAT.Newsletter aims to offer you an understanding of the more complex decision-making processes that take place during the development phase.
In a previous issue (Vol. 2), we spoke about the rapidly changing regulatory landscape. However, the cornerstones of any legal framework don’t change. Consumer and investor protection and transparency are cornerstones of US commercial regulations. Compliance with KYC and AML laws is a prerequisite in the financial services industry. These regulations are shaping the legal designs of exchanges.
In order to preserve a true peer-to-peer experience for our users, the app is tweaked frequently. Plans were adjusted and tested. All this brings the unfortunate but necessary extensions in time. Our focus is solely on delivering the mobile beta exchange and the challenges we face are treated as obstacles which we are absolutely determined to overcome. The bottom line is that the community must have what’s been promised to it.
The beta version will be released to the testers’ group as a basic, functional build with regular updates throughout Q3 of 2018. They will undergo basic and advanced process testing where they will help identify bugs and issues in functionality, performance and stability. A public beta build will be announced later when the ground testing is over. Watch our social media for updates.
We promised you guys sneak peeks into the development of HAT.Exchange Beta but unfortunately, due to some reworkings and UI changes, it got delayed. As a gesture of appreciation for your patience and support, we’ve thrown in several screenshots to give you an idea of what’s coming in the first beta build as well as future builds.
Disclaimer: It is expected that the UI/UX, features and specific logics may undergo changes. The aim is to implement features in layers to allow testers ample time to explore the app. As a beta tester, you will be able to experience the shaping of the application and its functions through user feedback. All testing is conducted on the Ropsten Testnet.
The screenshots show, potentially the two most frequently used aspects of the exchange – Pairs (with stats) and Escrows. HAT.Exchange employs user-created and controlled escrow contracts. Using the screenshots as examples, when a user selects ETH/HAT pair from the Market they arrive at an overview screen. Here the user is able to interact with listed orders, charting and general token overview.
To buy ETH the user must create an escrow by depositing HAT tokens. This escrow is configured to automatically execute a trade with another escrow (for any price below the set price of ETH during creation). Similarly, when selling ETH, the user will escrow them, ready to execute trade for any price above the price of ETH during creation. Once the buy or sell escrow is created, users can fulfill or create orders in the exchange. Beta builds will be distributed to the testers’ group in waves.
The beta testing application form is available >>HERE<< NOTE: All Beta Tester applicants are required to verify their user accounts on the exchange before applying.
One of the most crucial aspects of mass adoption is reliability and security. With User Account Verification (UAV), regulatory requirements towards onboarding users are met when they identify themselves to HAT. Identification helps develop a more secure community for everyone coupled with the trust rating system. An important thing to note here is that users remain anonymous to one another for all interactions on the exchange and any identifiable information is withheld until a jurisdictional court requests said information.
The UAV is a
mandatory process for everyone who wishes to use services offered by the HAT.Exchange application.

We are back with the much-awaited Airdrop and Bounties! Verification and Referral BonusesWhen a user successfully completes the User Account Verification process, they are eligible to receive a bonus of 15 HAT when they log in. Similarly, if a user refers someone to the app, they are eligible to receive a bonus of 5 HAT per referral (upon successful completion of UAV process). You are not required to register or apply for these bonuses as they will be handed out by the system.
Verification Bonus – 15 HAT (one-time)
Referral Bonus – 5 HAT (per verified user)
Staking BonusesNow you can earn free HAT tokens by staking for a minimum specified time-period. All you have to do is stake your HAT tokens for at least:
60 days to get 2.5% bonus

120 days to get 5.0% bonus
The total number of HAT tokens being staked will receive these percentage bonuses based on eligible stakes claimed after August 1, 2018.
Beta Testing BonusesThe Beta Testers’ Group is one of our most valuable community resources. This group will be responsible for helping us resolve some of the more elusive bugs and stability issues. They will also act as a sounding board for many of our UX related functions. We want to make an app that everyone loves using because of its practical application and ease of use and we understand that the beta testers will help us achieve this. Once you have been accepted as a Beta Tester, you will be participating in various testing sprints and your contribution to the testing processes will be rewarded with up to:
40 HAT per week for Basic Testers
75 HAT per week for Advanced Testers
Content BonusesThe community is a powerful resource for any project during and after development. Content helps to drive forward the image of HAT.Exchange offering a textual or visual understanding of what the project is going to look like and generates community feedback. It’s a great way to expose new users to the project. To follow a standard, all entries for textual and visual content should be in the English language. We are offering bounties for the following content:
Articles and Write-ups (max 5 entries per person)
Normal – 30 HAT
Great – 50 HAT
The focus of the articles must be HAT.Exchange and its product and services. You are expected to come up with original content for every piece you submit and should you post the same piece on various platforms, it will be considered as one.
The HAT.Newsletter and Blog (dev updates, newsflash, etc.) is going to provide you information most of the times, regarding the progress and features of HAT.Exchange. You are free to use any of the officially published content from there as the reference or focus for your piece, though you must be careful not to copy. This will result in immediate disqualification of the submission.
YouTube Videos (max. 5 entries per person)
Similar rules apply to creating videos – original content, relevance to the project as well as informational value. During the previous airdrops a lot of the submissions were simply rehashed summaries of the whitepaper or template based productions without any individual a unique perspective. The purpose of these videos is to offer everyone a community perspective of things. With that said, the videos will be evaluated for content quality and accuracy as well as community response. The videos with the most views will be selected for polls every week. The favorites will be rewarded based on the following categories.
500 views – 50 HAT
1500 views – 100 HAT
3000 views – 150 HAT
5000+ views – 200 HAT
Each of these categories will have their own polls every week. For example, if your video receives over 1500 views, it will be eligible for a 100 HAT reward, provided the community votes* it up.

Articles / Write-upsYouTube Videos...more bonuses to come! Stay tuned. We began officially accepting token listing requests from ERC-20 based projects in the beginning of Q3, 2018. So far, we’ve received over 30 requests which are being evaluated by our legal team. Once we have an approved list, we will be contacting those applicants with an in-depth questionnaire. This ‘Advanced’ Token Listing Form will allow us to prepare the backend, in-app UX and potential marketing campaigns for listing of said token.
We have been receiving inquiries about when the token listings will take effect. To clarify, since the app will remain on Ropsten Testnet until launch, trading of any tokens, HAT or otherwise, will not take place on the Ethereum Mainnet. Any token listing confirmations will remain pending until production launch. We will begin responding to applications in the first week of August 2018.
ERC-20 Project teams are welcome to submit their interest in listing on HAT.Exchange
