There are types of alt coins that performs very well in the market, Be selective in choosing alt coins, There so many types of alts that are no longer active in the market. and if you are smart enough to choose alt coin based on their chart performance then precisely you will also yield a good profit. Bitcoin in any field like long term and short term investment are still consistently effective, As we've witness in its historical performance its constantly good performer, No doubt bitcoin is a good investment in any field.

There are some altcoins that are just good for pump and dumps and there are some groups where someone calls the shot and you just see a huge spike within a short split of second for the coin. These are shit coins and should not even be dabbled into. It is best to find coins with a good project, coins with good dev, coin with huge support and coin with future to trade with. This is a good way to invest and diversify one's portfolio for those who feel bitcoin is too high to get into which I don't see as such.

But we are all in for the money isn't it? Admit it or not. That's why its really really hard to hold on your coins specially at the price today. $5500, $6000, $6500 are all mental barriers now. I still try to hold as I can, however, it the opportunity has presented to me to get and cash out huge profit, I might take it and will try to just re-buy when bitcoin price is at low point and discounted price. I think this is the sentiments of most traders now, can't resist to cash out bitcoin with this ATH prices today.

No it isn’t. You don’t have to be panic and you don’t have to think that bitcoin will make your fearful. Be brave and face this dip. Bitcoin have been developing since 2009 and till now it has faced so many hard forks and dips.

But nothing have made it down to zero. It always rehabilitate and come out with more profits. So don’t fear and hold, it will surely shoot up and make you rich.

Eth has always tried to chase bitcoin and is fond of standing next to it. After bitcoin, eth is the most suitable coin for investing your money and even better than eth is waves. I think the majority of people trade alt coins only to increase their bitcoin; I personally think that holding an alt coin for more that 15 days is a bad idea because a lot can happen to the btc price in that time. and it seems like the majority of people think this way, when btc is on the rise everyone is quick to jump the bitcoin wagon and sacrifice the alts they have that's why in a lot of times when btc is rallying alts drop. alts have no future, not all of them at least

If you cant invest big and want 100 or 200x then it's better to invest in altcoins or ICO's. You can't make a huge profit with Bitcoin now. So it's better to keep some and invest more on altcoins.

Sure, ICOs have the possibilities of having a huge increase as time goes on but that does not mean a lot of profit cannot still be made with bitcoin based on what one can afford.

We all don't know what the peak value or ATH of bitcoin will stop at, so if it is possible to have some of it, diversify the portfolio just a bit, then i see no reason why. However, investing in ICOs should be something one should be careful of as most of them can still end up failing, so it is a higher risk.

I wouldn't say that with the bitcoin price raising, altcoins drops. You need to differentiate the reasons why bitcoin price raise. Is it natural growth in demand, any particularly good news or is it like for example right now, a cheap way to multiply your money. People are now selling all their altcoins to have money to buy bitcoins, because they will get free forked coins. That's why the altcoins are now low, and bitcoin high. After the forks are done bitcoin price will maybe drop a bit, while altcoins will raise. From that point, if there is any other big news, the bitcoin and altcoins can raise in value together for some time.

The main reason why altcoins can not increase its price is that people are only focusing their mind and efforts in bitcoin and its fork. Well if you look on the bright side, the volatility of the market actually pushes people to start using their bitcoins not just as a trading tool. This will help out the price of bitcoin in the long run because if fewer people are holding bitcoins and a majority of them want it, it will drive the price up for sure. In the case of alt coins, it depends on if you are looking at it on a BTC stand point or on a FIAT stance. If on BTC, you will see a lot of alts die off since they would be worth dust if BTC keeps on rising. Bitcoin is the coin that we need to invest for long term, because when time come past this crypto currency will multiply their value. When I started in bitcoin community their value was $2500 but now it was double now into $5000 and soon to be $7500. Growth of bitcoin was so fast and no limit so I have no doubt regarding long investment in bitcoin.

It seems like the best option is a good balance of both short quick trades of altcoins and most of the times holding bitcoins. I've lost a lot of bitcoins from holding onto altcoins that I thought would at the very least hang onto their bitcoin values. I'm trading to get more bitcoins, not fiat!

Holding altcoins for the long term has resulted in losses for the far majority of the people, not just you. There have only been a few altcoins that back in the days were good to hold till now, but as I said, that were only a few. Altcoins are only good for short term speculation purposes, where if you try to hold them for the long term, especially at current levels, it can only end bad. But then again, even short term altcoin trading isn't all that profitable -- it's just the luck that you depend on ultimately.

I agree with you, I lose alot of Bitcoin in altcoin trading that paired with BTC because the price of BTC increasing fast. Short term altcoin trading that paired with BTC will be minimize the risk and more safe, and if would like to hold altcoin like ETH  for long term investment for the better use paired ETH/USDT or other fiat currency.

That is the point. Market always have been such diversifying and you can’t find any best solution that is stable somehow. But now, for bitcoins and altcoins there are some specific and nonspecific trends from which you can predict to some extent about the future of market. Better is to sustain the whole stamina and invest in both with different portions and wait.
