Look into Bitcoin for long term investment if you want to stick to Altcoins then i recommend Ethereum, Lite or Ripple, If not then look into different ICO's that have a good concept and long term potential. Im currently looking into trade.io who i've subscribed to their bounties program and so far  im pleased with their services.

if you are looking for an existing coins stratis, eth are both good together with waves,neo and nem but if you are also looking for ico coin you can try what i have inside my signature campaign as they got already an existing business and funding them will help them to achieved more so both will benefits.

you want to buy alt coin and hold it long. I suggest you buy eth or waves for holding. today this coin price is low and I think this coin price can be increase. you can keep this coin her own wallet. I think this wallet is safety.

I have just posted my list of altcoins in which I will be investing in another thread. I will just repeat them here since this thread is basically asking for the good altcoins to buy. Here they are: "BAT, AVT, EDO, OPT, DENT, AdEx. These are young coins that is why their value is not yet on top and the real potentials are not yet met. AdEx and BAT are a little bit older as compared to the rest of the list I provided. They have proven their strength already."

But please know that I am storing them in exchanges because my way is to pull them out during peak points and then buy again in low points.

I was holding Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin before but unfortunately have it all converted to Bitcoin and then Bitcoin to fiat money because I used it for an emergency that happened way back October. Hopefully by mid December or maybe first quarter of 2018 I will be having Spectre.ai and Soferox tokens to be transfered into my wallet as soon as it will be enlisted on exchange. Coinomi wallet an Android app is the only storage where I hold all my coins and so far so good, I have no issues with the wallet yet. What I like about this wallet is that it has exchange feature of Changelly and Shapeshift so we can buy and sell coins according to coins all time high without hassle. It also supports a lot of trusted coins and erc20 tokens under Dapps.

Yeah, I thought so too but TENX dropped 50% since I bought it. I'm off of altcoins and I have converted them to bitcoin. QTUM is suspect. I bought SALT as well but I think it won't be worth much until they actually launch their loan service.

My strategy is to buy the main coins and then with some of the profits I invest in a few alt-coins. Once they rise, I convert them back to one of the main coins.

I think the altcoins are more like the dotcom bubble. They promise to do a lot, but how many will actually be able to do what they say they can?

Watch out for ICON (ICX) coming out soon, and WANCHAIN. I also like Power Ledger. Other than that, I can't really advise you on specific coins. I personally own TenX, OMG, FLO (Florin Coin), 0X, XPLAY, Pillar, Tierion, Via Coin, Shift, DNT, Bitquence, Aventus, EOS, NMR, CVC, XST, UBQ, GNT, TRST, OK, Steem.
