Yes, if they think bitcoin out of control and people started to do criminal things and harm national security because of bitcoin, but as long as the uses of bitcoin do have positive side, it's strange to them to stop it. CMIIW Smiley
I feel that it is difficult for them to do so. Even if countries like China tries to ban Bitcoin in their own country, they cant exactly do so to the whole world, and there will always be a use for Bitcoin somewhere else.

Bitcoin is still gaining popularity, and its community is growing, so unless all the governments team up and say NO to BTC, it would not happen (I hope).
Citizens > Government, and we need to believe this as well.but its better to legalize btc.for economies of different countries.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

This is something which I've beleived for awhile, which is the prospect that if big governments and banks worked heavily together they'd be able to remove Bitcoin from the face of the earth. They wouldn't ban it, as that would be a tough thing to swallow for the American people as they wouldn't see a good reason to do that ( at least in my mind here) But they could just go ahead and regulate Bitcoin into oblivion, making it hard for Bitcoin businesses (buying and selling, trading, etc) to operate within their countries, or be subject to insane taxes, KYC AML and such.

Do you think Governments could kill Bitcoin?

Yes! that is very easy. Government will just declare martial rule vs bitcoin that anyone will engage in digital currencies will be shoot to kill or a lifetime imprisonment. So what will you do? are you going to abide the rule of law because afraid of the consequences or will just be against the law and be ready of whatever will happen? Luckily this will apply only to the nations that don't have freedom but only to obey the law, but if you are in the land of the free then we should enjoy it.  Wink Wink

They couldn't kill it completely, but they can prevent mass adoption by simply outlawing it. Most people wouldn't risk getting fined or imprisoned just to use an alternative payment system, so Bitcoin community wouldn't be able to grow to any significant size. And the second problem is mining - right now it's relatively centralized and draws huge amounts of electricity - together it makes it easy to shut it down. Without mining Bitcoin's price can't freely grow, because mining protects the network from double-spending attacks, so when hashrate is low the network becomes less secure, meaning it's cheaper to attack it, so it can't sustain above certain amounts of value.
they state governments can not completely sabotage bitcoin, bitcoin will always be in a row, if any country is sabotaging bitcoin maybe its country does not want to be a developed and developing country because now is the age of its digital currency and saves the production of paper money.

I think the government has the ability to remove bitcoin. One thing I can see is when they make a law that prohibits bitcoin and by using bitcoin you will get punished. I think many people will stop using bitcoin because they are afraid on their government. This can be stopped by the government but many will still continue using bitcoin. Another thing is if the government block all bitcoin wallets here in our country and make a law that no banks are allowed to accept bitcoin it will give a hard time to those who have bitcoin because they cannot convert it into a real money. But still, I don't see any reasons why the government will going ban bitcoin, especially in our country.

I think they can't kill bitcoin not really to the point that they would build an alliance just to kill bitcoin but they can still make a move on how to stop bitcoin for a while. There are many people who become successful because of bitcoin so that means there are many people who would fought against government if they would try to bring bitcoin down. I know they can't stop bitcoin from being the new currency in the future.

I don't think government would do to stop bitcoin and they would spend a lot of money because of bitcoin. I beleive there are a lot of things should have taken priority by the government. There many things to considered before it will happen, thus its impossible.
I can hardly find any person living on this earth or any government who can actually stop bitcoin. it is because of the reason that bitcoin is decentralized in nature which actually means that there is no one out of us who can actually control bitcoin.

This quality of bitcoin is making bitcoin very much independent in nature and due to which, bitcoin is having no fear of being stopped by anyone.

In my own point of view, the government could really kill or remove bitcoin in the internet because they are very powerful to command it and they are the one who makes the law that's why we cannot do anything if bitcoin had already removed. But no worries there are no reasons that bitcoin can be removed.

I don't think they can. I mean, we know that they had been trying for years to somewhat have a control over bitcoin but with no luck, they can't. Bitcoin is made that way so that we can no longer be in control by the government. Every transactions were making are always being monitored by the bank and the government if we are using real money but with bitcoin, they can't and that is the beauty of it.

I think there is a possibility that government can ban bitcoin to a certain country if they want to. They have the access to the internet thats why they can ban what they want or even kill bitcoin. But there are some countries in the world that legalize bitcoin in their own country and can use to pay in any transactions. It depends to the government of a certain country.

Even though the strong governance of the government of a certain country can totally make bitcoin to be shut down on their country, they could not still do it because the concern of its citizens or people is also a must have before deciding or issuing a mandatory decision to put out bitcoin on their lives. Because if the government will just do what they just wanted to do without consulting the opiniom of the people especially those who benefits with bitcoin usage, it will surely or totally cause a massive rebellion that might cause a big war against the government. As long as bitcoin is not being a bad influence on the people I think government will just have to make bitcoin stand into where it is placed.

No mate. Most of the government are in Federal and democratic state. The people holds the power not he leaders. China is different, the people wont be able to do nothing when prime ministers adresses to ban the BTC. But as we see nand experience, bitcoin adopters counts are vast day by day. So bitcoin can never be stopped.
That is just where it gets interesting. We all have the right to use whatever we please. I can decide to pay you with my new pair of sneakers if you accept isn't it? That is just the way it is! Worst government could do would be to ban exchanges in the country, but would that stop anyone from exchanging what they have if they deem it fit as a better form of exchange ? No!

We are always suppose to be in power and then we voted these guys and they turned us to slaves. Now, we are taking that power back and it is the strength of the community and that fact that has made bitcoin to be what it is today.
This is what they are the most afraid, bitcoin is a way to free people from them it does not matter what laws they pass bitcoin is able to ignore them since they have no direct control of it the same way they have complete control of their fiat, in fact the money that is in your pocket never belongs to you that is why they can take it, but bitcoin belongs to you and to no one else.
well i believe that the government would nothing to do with btc.because if a simple problem such as cyber bullying and human trafficking an abuse of the use of social media on internet they cant solve. so then i believe  they cant also stop bitcoin even if they wanted to stop it.they maybe solve first the crime on internet than bitcoin because bitcoin is a verry helpful asset than anything.
The difference with those issues is that bitcoin puts their fate at risk, if bitcoin becomes as powerful as we think it can get then governments in their current form will need to stop existing, it is going to be impossible to maintain the huge governments we have now, and that is something they hate, most people employed in the government are overpaid in my country and in most countries too, once they face the private sector they realize how little they are going to be paid so you can be sure that everyone related to the government will fight for what they consider to be their rights.

The bitcoin doesn't depend on any government if they ban the bitcoin in their country also can't stop anyone using from it.But if the all governments ban the bitcoin at the same time then bitcoin can't able to hold on because the if everyone stopped transacting the bitcoin the value might get zero.

Every government have their own opinion about bitcoin. And yes bitcoin is criminal money but if bitcoin consider as bad investation, why would Japan and South Korean's government legalize bitcoin ? Because bitcoin have their own advantage that fiat did not own.
And yes government also kill bitcoin by making forbidden policy against bitcoin usage !

Officially they can reduce the usage rate, but can not be really vital because bitcoins are connected to the internet so they can not be effective 100%, many people will feel threatened if the government prohibits regulations, but for the long term it will only make people more strong and finally can always find a gap, the Government will not be able to stem bitcoin until whenever.

Bitcoin has become unstoppable now as we see previously that china want to shut it down but this only effect the price and then prices went down and sooner people gave so much popularity to this coin prices touched 7.5k value and that’s the big achievement and this show that bitcoin is not depending on any region and it cannot be stopped because its user circle is all across the world and they will not let it happen.

They don’t need to sit their ass down and stress themselves hacking accounts on bitcoin which is up to millions. There is already quantum computers, and they can use it to destroy every Bitcoin by simply using the addresses, and puff! Your money is gone. The government is interested in Bitcoin as for now, and they are making profit from it, so they don’t want it to end right now. If they want to end it, it will be when they realize that lots of people are losing money in it, then they will find a way to end it.

I think the government can stop it only in their country so in order to stop the bitcoin worldwide, ALL of the governments around the world should ban bitcoin in their country. This will never happen because some countries see bitcoin as a good investment and the government see that bitcoin helped their countrymen so there is no reason to ban it. Maybe some countries banned it because of certain reasons but more countries chose not to ban or stop it.
