I am unable to get my head around the difference between these 2 concepts.How does mintcoin differ from other coins when we say we are minting them rather than mining them?We still have to mine mintcoin if I am correct?

Right now we are mining in the traditional sense of the word, using computing power to find blocks and be rewarded Mintcoins.
In a few weeks, the process of generating new coins will change to PoS, and new coins will be generated through what we're calling 'minting' - basically, you are given more coins based on how many you hold. This starts at 20% for the first year.
For example, if I had 1 million coins when the minting begins, after a year, I'd have 1,200,000. This process is entirely passive and you do not have to be mining with your computer at all.
