it is impossible to say for sure, all we can do is guess.

and my guess is that bitcoin may have some small downtime for a short period of time since there is not much time left before the fork and in that time two very good opportunities will represent themselves:
1. at least some altcoins will have huge pumps which mean a lot of profit.
2. bitcoin will be in a dip and that means buying opportunity before the for happens and if 2x thing becomes a new altcoin you get more money out of it too.

for now i think it would the best for you to sell all of your alts and convert it to Bitcoin,
because every alts did not give us a positif sign and more likely the price will be pushed by the whales.
also Bitcoin rally will not stop and i believe there will be another movement by them,

Nope, but if you are seeing about the latest news about the potential of the protest hardfork against bitcoin gold to be happened. I can say you can try to spent some of your altcoin and save your bitcoin.

It will be a huge mistake to categorize whole cryptocurrencies market into two segment, Bitcoin and alts. There are hundreds of coins, each being affected by thousands of factors. Open CMC any day and you will find all coins moving in different directions, some red, some green.
So it is wrong to make any trading strategy while generalizing all the altcoins. However, it is always recommended to invest in multiple coins rather than throwing all money in 2-3 coins.

Altcoins investment will not be long last more than a year I think. Since many coins are introduced next to  bitcoin. We just seeing ETH, LTC, dash and Dodge only a balance in the top alts list.
So we cannot expect every coin will be long last like bitcoin. Don't buy the alts again instead buy bitcoin save your coins in BTG rewarded wallet. That might profit for you.

I don't think so this would be proved good strategy this time. Bitcoin is already rise too much. I am expecting drop now because some correction is due that market has to follow anyhow. We can't depend only on bitcoin there are also some good alt coins that you can buy or hold for long that will also give you good profit. But I would advice you to research & select some 5 good altcoins that you think will remain strong whether Btc rise or drop. We should not believe on only 1 coin rest is your choice.

For me, I just go for the coins/tokens I believe in.
I then place sell order of 50% of my coins at price 2.1x, in that way I recover my investment+transaction fees in x time.
I then place rest in 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x and 100x inorder to get profit.
That way I'll not miss any natural or artificial price pump.

If the next 2x will be generating annother forked coin and that will be a good thing but remember after the hardfork and there will be a big dump for sure. as you can see the market is in the demand on the bitcoin.

you shouldn't plan like this when it comes to altcoins. instead think of them as a temporary place where your bitcoins go before they come back with profit.

of course that is more of a traders' strategy but it is a good strategy that works best in altcoin market and will give you the most amount of profit. you start trading different altcoins whenever they have some news or hype and are getting pumped because of it and you always increase your bitcoin that you invest in them.

if you do that, you get the answer to your question too. the profit of trading like this is a lot more than the profit that a forked coin can give you. for example BTG gave me 19% profit which was good but trading can give me 100% profit.

I would not, soon the time for alts will come, and you'll think you can drain them up until the end of the year and you'll see that you were wrong. In general, it's yours, but leave at least part of it.

It is common believe that when something is valuable and important we want to buy them at any cost sometime we sell the other things for the sake of that important thing to buy. The same is for bitcoin if we want to have a positive outcome we should buy the bitcoin in the present time because this is the end of this year and I hope that in the next year the bitcoin price will rise we should buy bitcoin if we have altcoin we will sacrifice for the profit which will come from bitcoin

it might be a good idea but for me i would'nt do it cause bitcoin value is too high and even its rise i dont think i would be gain tremendous profit from it. so better split it to altcoin that you believe in to minimize the loss. but investing in bitcoin not a wrong decesion either. its just a better option that might you want to consider

For me, for the moment I prefer to buy and invest on Bch. just look at on the price showing keep moving up, I believe this can giving profits when I selling it back into bitcoin, and combine it with bitcoin that I have.. I'm sure this could be a strategy that can provides an opportunity to gain more profit while waiting for bitcoin price leads back moving higher up.

Agree, sell your altcoin when the hardfork coming, then back to trading with buy the altcoin, 4x profit is not hard but nothing impossible on trading.

Maybe. But we can never know. If there will be a massive buys or sells in bitcoin, altcoins always turns to red and you can loose money.
