This is a temporary post, and this shows how Aegis will work. After Aegis get's out of the Newbie Section, a Main and Official new DevCoin thread will be posted.

This is the Main Devcoin thread. The following are popular devcoin links:

ASCMDVCPT - ASICMiner Devcoin  Pass Through
Buy Computer/Mining Parts with Devcoin
Devcoin Advertising Campaign
Devcoin Price Thread
Devcoin Venture
Devcoin QT Wallet For Windows Users
Devtome: Get Hundreds of Thousands of free Devcoins for writing
Earn Devcoins by Writing
Free Devcoins!!!!
Free DVC! Devcoin Faucet Beta Test
Help with Setting Up a Devcoin Wallet - Ya I'm a Noob
IRC Channel: #devcoin on freenode.net
Lottery
Official Site
Time to Buy Devcoins (1 penny each or less)
Where to Spend Devcoins

Devcoin is an ethically inspired project based on the BitCoin crypto-currency and created to help fund open source projects created by programmers, hardware developers, writers, musicians, painters, graphic artists and filmmakers.

Participants in the DevCoin economy earn DevCoins in proportion to their project development. Writers earn devcoins by writing, developers earn bitcoins by developing, artists earn DevCoin by creating, and the same follow for every other category including Administrators who apply their time and effort to help organize the DevCoin project and Marketers who earn devcoins by marketing.

We consider funding open source projects of all sorts, so if you have one idea that needs funding and you like us to take a look, please, by all means, submit your project at Cryptostocks and share with the DevCoin community over our this thread. We understand you may not want to discuss your idea in public, if that's the case, please submit it to unthinkingbit@gmail.com.

Download instructions are at:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin#download

The number of devcoins offered is large because the generation is fifty thousand per block, one thousand times the initial bitcoin generation rate. Devcoins can be traded at:
https://vps.vircurex.com/welcome/index?base=dvc&alt=btc

Besides bounties, the remainder of the 90% of generation is going to the open source developers on the bitcoin donation list:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/bitcoinshare.html

and to the open source developers who are developing other stuff on the devcoin share list:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/blob/master/devcoinshare.html

To get on a donation list, an open source developer can message me or post in an active devcoin thread. They could also post in the original induction thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18498

However, since there are few posts in the original induction thread I'm not checking it often.

The developers on the bitcoin donation list can see their devcoins by running a devcoin client and importing their bitcoin donation key into devcoin. One way of importing that key is by following the README.txt instructions for the modified version of bitcoin tools which incorporates Matt Giuca's privkeyimport:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/bitcointools

They could also use Jackjack's pywallet:
https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet

the instructions for which are in the Pywallet section at the bottom of the post:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.msg432697#msg432697
----

Aegis will be a new DevCoin moderation account. It will be moderating DevCoin topics like this, (One in the Newbie Section), but will be owned around-the-clock, to people that have powers towards the account.

For any questions, please P.M me. Or Unthinkingbit.

Everyone please check that your earnings are in the list at:
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/account_24.csv

The devtome earnings will be up for a day, in case someone did not get earnings because their invoice is badly formatted. If that is the case, I will run devtome.py again for only that person. Also, every new recipient should check that they received 11 devcoins, which were sent for a final confirmation of the devcoin address.

By Friday, June 14, the receiver files should be made. Round 24 payments will start at block 96,000, around July 1.

Stan Distortion:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=62794

has asked to be an Aegis moderator. He is not a devcoin moderator, but he has received devcoins for making an ASIC cooler and has posted on the devcoin thread.

Are there any objections to Stan joining Aegis?

Er, I'm not sure if I want to object or not. Theres a high risk, and a low risk. Though he does seem active and HQ.

I want two people to help make a devcoin offshore corporation.

The people doing this would have to use their real names. I've never done this, but I assume it would involve filling out forms. I believe two people would be enough, and there would be a twelve share award for both. All filing expenses would be paid. If anyone wants to do this, please message me.

Just one, the Bahamas. The directors wouldn't actually have to go there.

Cyprus costs more to incorporate, so that's why I picked the Bahamas.

Just wanted to say that this has been brought to my attention.... wondering what the propper proceedure is? do more than one admin have to agree a user is not being honest and remove the writers privalges and posts etc? do we give a warning ? is there an admin who is solely responsible for this? if so who?  Could do with a list in the OP of the admins and their roles... I get a LOT of requests and people asking me stuff thinking I am the one behind devcoin and that I have all the answers... needs to be easy for users to see who to contact..

also do please check out http://devcointalk.org/ Smiley nice little community of us over there Smiley

Hey there! I'd like to report a user: http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=wiki:user:eeharris

He's posted a massive book under "collated" that he just copied and pasted from elsewhere. Not an article based on a book, he went looking for books that weren't copyrighted and then decided to use that to get 80 shares.

Hey there. Just went through his other articles. A lot of what's in them is copied from elsewhere (even his "original" ones). Case-in-point:

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=when_prophecy_goes_rogue

Check out Appendix 3. This is copied from this page:

http://pjmiller.wordpress.com/2008/07/07/dispensationalism-today-yesterday-and-tomorrow-part-1/

You can find this by doing a simple search for "A person’s theological system is his basic understanding of what the overall teachings of Scripture are and how they interrelate."

Also, he often notes that things were taken from elsewhere.

His articles as a whole are completely suspect at this point.

I don't know about the article, although it's collated, but the books are his own

Edit: as far as I'm aware all his original articles have been vetted as his own (by Ethan Harris) except for "When Prophecy Goes Rogue" which he has yet to link to. Unthinkingbit has now asked him to do this, I had already done so.

As a general point one should not have a problem with writings just because they are long and wait until payout cutoff day to highlight issues. The problem lies, if there is one, with the payment share methodology not the length of articles. A wiki dedicated to promoting writing is be definition likely to attract writers.

also can anyone confirm this statement made here http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_advertising_campaign

"Devcoin has been around for over a year, and at one point was even worth $10 per coin."

Yes it may be driving people to get interested in devcoins.... but i think it is factually incorrect and it is a shame to hear people buying loads of devcoins based on this fact having just heard about the currency... obviously it their own choice to do their own research etc and see what market value of DVC has been in past but it hard at times especially for new folk to know where to look.... and we must only state factually correct information on devtome imo.

Can't really confirm but I doubt so, I was mining when Bitcoins wasn't worth even $5 not to mention Namecoin or Devcoin.  Maybe right in the beginning stage?

Please actually read the post. The things mentioned are definitely not his own, unless he goes by multiple different names.

1) This is the book he posted: THE LIFE OF GOD IN THE SOUL OF MAN by Henry Scougal

Not sure if Ethan Harris is the same as Henry Scougal but I assumed not.

2) The other very long article he has has a ton of copy and pasted content from various sites, such as from PJ Millers. Again, I just don't think that Ethan Harris is also PJ Miller.

There are no issues with people using articles to help spawn theirs. The problem comes when you're using a lot of other people's material copy/pasted and you're claiming it's "Original." This is what "Collated" is for. And collated does not mean taking an entire book that isn't even in your name and copy/pasting it.

Fair point, I hadn't really read the post through. He has been asked for some info on that article, and that will give an opportunity to check on the collated work as you point out.
