New ICOs everywhere, What's your take on them?

Most of the ICOs are not profitable to anyone. While I say most of them are not good, but still there are few ICOs which are linked to a real life business. When a new company decides to list in to a stock market, they offer their shares through IPO which is Initial public offering. But in real life stock market, we have regulators who ensure that the company is already an established one and they have registered profits since last three years (in my country). But the ICO is a method through which a company raises funds for their upcoming ventures. So they want to raise fund for a business which is yet to come and doesn't exist now. So the risk is very high.

China has already banned ICO and Canada government has already started cracking them down. Which looks like a proper step to me. If it can't be regulated now, it will become a ponzi market and people will start loosing big amounts of money. Invest in ICO but make sure they have a legal business to back them up.

I was just discussing with a couple of parters actually touching on something you said.

I'm not a big ICO chaser. This year, I participated in exactly three, and all modest sums below USD 1,000, basically a small pool between myself and two friends who can't be bothered to get into crypto. At this very moment, none of them are profitable! Other than an actual interest in the tech/product, I spent considerable time and effort to conduct some research and invest only in those we felt were long-term buys, with solid developers on the team, etc etc.

It seems even the best-researched decisions are prone to failures.

For our next possible venture, and perhaps for the foreseeable future, we have actually thought along the lines of ICOs that are more like IPOs. Similar to our second ICO, we want something with a real world business that simply wants funding to expand. So not necessarily blockchain innovation or decentralised solution. Simply a business with a tokenised model for expansion.

At least we'd have a product with a track record to look at!

A lot of them are literally the same trying to make some money and copy and pasting code and ideas. There are some gems among some of them though.

Good idea now with a lot of ICO and we all can follow it but actually we also have to be careful with the many scams that call ICO project, we have to see which team is involved in it.

In my opinion, these new ICOs will help us in the future to diversify our funds. There are those ICOs which invest on real properties, commodities, real-life investments, etc. to minimize the risks involved in cryptocurrency world. My take is to be careful and research about the ICOs you will be contributing to – know the team involved. There are lots of ICOs out there that are taking funds from the crowd and disappear without a trace.

There are so many ICOs such that I cannot single out the profitable ones, I agreed with the opinion of some  that it is better to regulate these ICOs because it could lead to investors losing money.

ICO is an easy way to support a new altcoin project. This can be a good advantage if we can be selective in supporting ICO. Not all ICOs should participate. The reason I joined ICO is very simple, the benefits are huge.

I have always been a big believer in ICOs. I am always looking at upcoming ICOs and ongoing ICOS. Right now my favorite is Propthereum.io. They are an asset backed cryptocurrency on the blockchain expecting a 1566% coin appreciation in a short period of time. Proceeds raised from their ICO will be used to purchase A-grade property worldwide. This will generate a rental income and underlying value for the PTC token holder. The great thing about this concept is that the coin will always increase in value.

It's basically the idea that attracts me towards investing in an ICO, if I read something that leaves an impression on me, and I have that moment.. that "tick" going in my head, and say to myself "wow".. then that's a project and ICO that I would support. Something has to click in you to be attracted to something, whether that's another human being or an idea. I think ICO's offers everyone the chance to express these ideas and gives everyone else the chance to evaluate them, which can be evaluated rather easily (by seeing how much money the project got funded with). I hope this thing will multiple but hopefully as well we'll see it a bit more regulated. I mean, ICO's are great but there is no organization, everyone does whatever and developers don't always have the best interest of their investors.

The icos are attracting many bitcoiners and the bitcoiners decide which of the ico seems to be successful. I prefer ico because of my situation as a student. But what is surprising is that i will be rewarded for my efforts and that is the most important thing in joining ico

ICO's need to have atleast the below elements before even deciding to invest:
1. Needs to be legit
2. Reasonable profit provided by the company
3. Solid Team with great experience
4. Great startup or a nice business idea
5. A plan that will work now and in the future

I check their team and documents to understand if it's a legit one. Pundix here comes as a legit one and a great payment system for the merchants. I support Pundix anyway.

I mostly stay away from ICOs, already lost a lot of hard earned  bitcoins in 2013/2014 'investing' in these kind of schemes, Ethereum just made it a lot easier to make it, projects still crappy and scammy.

Invest in protocols, not companies.

A lot of ICOs are already in the wild and more ICOs are currently on their pre sale and still more to come by next year so the competition of every Cryptocurrency is very tough and the top Altcoin are affected because they hardly pumped up since investors are looking for cheaper coins and hoping it will someday will pump up.

There are more Altcoin already but still more are coming and it's unlimited because no state or government are regulating it.
I think it's hard now for Altcoin to pump up because people are confused regarding with Altcoin future.

To be honest, many of the companies do not carry a pioneering idea, they just copy previous projects, trying to make money on it, so it's important in a lot of bad projects, to find a real one that will bring everyone a profit
