i know the feeling.. but its better people get in for the wrong reason instead of not getting in at all !

by getting in, there are way more chances that people get educated in the subject

Why does it matter if they haven't read the whitepaper or don't care or know anything about decentralization?
The fact that these people are using Bitcoin should be enough, no?

Most of us want mass-adoption, it's a bit silly to expect everyone who buys Bitcoin to first read the whitepaper and know of all technical aspects.

Well everyone wants to make money 95% of the users are here to make extra money and learn more about coins as well. Nobody would do something for bitcoin if you didn't get money.

So calm down. Some users are here also for hobby and they get extra money.

No! The point was never to "make money". The point was to revolutionise the way in which we represent a medium of exchange and providing a new, secure way in which it can be done without a third intermediary.

If your only here to make money then I politely ask for you to fuck off. Because in the long-run, if you stop making money, we all know that 100% of that 90% would leave without a second thought. They don't give two cents about what bitcoin represents or how it is so game-changing. Purely here because of greed.
You're in no place to tell anyone to 'fuck off', you don't get to decide why someone should or shouldn't use Bitcoin. You sound very elitist tbh and I disagree with your notion that the Bitcoin community should be some elite club of people who are only in it because of ideological reasons.

These people aren't using it because they wan't to make payments etc. They are just buying it to make money; Therein lies the problem. They are not "adopting" bitcoin, they are using it to try and make a quick buck. Honestly, I think bitcoin is massively overvalued - About 1% of merchants accept it. Unless this new money keeps on flowing in or, bitcoin gets accepted by Amazon, eBay or another mainstream commerce company in the near future, the music is going to stop and with it, the price.

By all means, if you are buying bitcoin to purchase a car, make an over-seas transaction or, use it for gambling then go ahead. In fact it is 100% beneficial for the ecosystem to do so. Because at least then, you are using bitcoin for it's intended purpose; As a medium of exchange.

What do you think happens when people make payments with Bitcoin? Most businesses accepting Bitcoin will just exchange those Bitcoins directly for fiat once they receive them (Overstock is an exception).
People who are using Bitcoin as a long term investment aren't doing anything wrong and I also don't see how it hurts Bitcoin. People also use fiat currency for investment, people also save massive amounts of fiat currency without using it.

Ideally, I'd like to see even more investors get into Bitcoin, raise the marketcap and perhaps make it a bit less volatile in the future.
Bitcoin is just too volatile to be used as a means of exchange for most people.

Imagine getting your paycheck in Bitcoin and the next day you've just lost a couple of hundred dollars, now you're short for paying your bills etc.

If s business is clever enough to be making a lot of money then they clever enough not to sell of all their Bitcoin to fist when they can make a whole bunch more without putting in the work. I don't actually understand what the OP problem is and I don't think he understands Bitcoin or currency. Bitcoin is a currency so it already is money. It's just one that's going up in value because it uses new technology that works so well. So I'm not sure what is wrong with keeping currency. I use Bitcoin to buy things why would I use fiat?

Most people that investing bitcoin now, are just investing to make money. It annoys the hell out of me. 90% of people haven't read the white paper! Don't even know why decentralisation is a good thing! Don't know why the blockchain is such a revolutionary invention! It annoys me so much! These people just invest because they want to "get rich quick".

And the annoying thing is that if someone had told me about bitcoin 6 years ago, I still would have put all of my money into it. Unfortunately I'm only 16 so I didn't know ANYONE (when I was 9) that would tell me about bitcoin. I only just heard of it 7 months ago and henceforth, have become OBSESSED with crypto. Now I've dropped out of school for crypto and it really does my nut in when all I hear is "Bitcoin to $10K!", "Bitcoin to $20k!".

Deep down I actually hope that the bubble (yes it is a mini-bubble) pops after the Segwit fork and that the price goes back down to $2k. That way all of these stupid investors can suck their thumbs and get taught a lesson. 90% of these people also would have said bitcoin was a scam 9-15 months ago but now look at them. They run around like fucking idiots screaming "BLOCKCHAAINN!!!", "DECENTRALISATIONNNN!!!".

Smh.

Rant over.

who doesn't want to earn, but when they earn they also grow interest in using bitcoin, interest in everything about bitcoin, earning is what has made bitcoin much more usable.

Are they? I think Skynet became sentient around 2008 or so. This whole Bitcoin thing was created so the robots will have something to use when they decide to take over.

I understand your rant, I don't think you should worry.

Mos the people that used the internet in the late 1990s did so for email and hanging out in shitty chat rooms on AOL. Most people didn't appreciate what the internet meant in terms of shared information, how it mad information and knowledge more accessible and free, how it would change the world.

Did that stop the internet? No.

Will current speculators stop bitcoin or crypto currency? No.

It's OK that people get involved for narrow or shallow or selfish reasons. We still all gain when someone new decides to buy some bitcoin. The network gets stronger.

I really sad you left from school for cryptos. Investing in cryptos makes ROI.  But not in 100%. Will you invest for bitcoin, it will send you ROI when it reached top because limited supply. Hope you will return you school and got through school age correctly.

Bitcoin attracts a lot of investors because is expensive and the price is rising, but it doesn't mean that everyone never uses it and just bought for long-term investment. I used bitcoins first time on Silk Road, the second was Ebay. Why Silk Road? That time I didn't know there was a way to spend BTC on eBay, once I learned how to use bitcoins I used it on eBay and buy some stuff.

You can't blame newcomers that they just buy and get excited about it. Everyone had that moment when first rime hard about Bitcoin.

I completely understand your frustration, and I am sad to say I can relate. Unfortunately people that have come to the cryptocurrency space recently only care about money. The don't give a f** about the revolution or the tech. That makes me very sad myself. Cryptocurrency has become 90% speculation and 10% tech. All I want to say is that don't give up. Let's continue educating the masses, one person at a time. I must say, for a person your age. You are very quite mature.

Thanks. So far nobody has even asked why I specifically dropped out of school; I dropped out because everyone I talked to including, my teachers, my friends and even strangers (my school was very large) all laughed at me every time I tried to talk about crypto. I couldn't focus in class because all that was on my mind was blockchain, decentralisation and the revolution that is, LITERALLY, just around the corner. Eventually, I just said "fuck it" and left.

Now I'm designing my own blockchain protocol (NOT A TOKEN and I won't say what, in case someone steals my idea lol) but I am making pretty good progress and have already made a decent amount of money off the hype in crypto - Ironic and slightly hypocritical I know but it still doesn't make me wrong and unless the hype begins to calm down soon after the Segwit fork, we are all screwed.

Personally, I think that it will be then, that there will be a HUGE dip. If that doesn't happen then the much larger dip that is inevitably coming in the longer term, is going to be devastating. The reason that I am annoyed is because, the dip is going to put every single cryptocurrency in a massively bad light. The higher and faster the price rises, the more likely it is to come crashing down. In my opinion (albeit quite subjective), it is much better for bitcoin to grow in a slower, steadier manner.

That is amazing. You will do great. Contrary to popular belief, school is not all that. I know you are still young so most people will try to push you towards it. But if you are an above average IQ individual you know, its a waste of time. Unfortunately the world and certainly this forum is full of below average IQ individuals(read the comments). My advice is, do not be discouraged. Do not lose focus of your goals and dreams. I have met many 15 year olds that do amazing things. Do you know the 15year old that successfully hacked Trezor? Follow him on Twitter. Psychologists say we are the 5 people we are always surrounded with. So chose your circles very closely, stay out of trouble and the sky won't be the limit. I wish you all the best kid. And good luck with your blockchain!

A high IQ does not guarantee success. You can have a high IQ and still be naïve about how the world works. In reality, most people that drop out of school are going to struggle. Even with a genius IQ there aren't very many options to get a job. A lot of employers like to hire people with a college education. Without a college education a lot of doors will be closed to you. Without a high school diploma it is even worse. Regardless of whether you are smart or not, employers are going to want someone with a degree or experience. It is going to be an uphill battle to get experience, because in order to get that you have to hope someone takes a chance on you.

Chances are OP is going to have to work in a factory to stay afloat, possibly even two jobs. Another option is for OP to become some sort of Entrepreneur, but sometimes this doesn't work out. In order to create a good business you need to establish a good customer base which requires great skills with working with other people. There is also the chance that Bitcoin becomes really big or OP finds some way to amass a huge amount of money, but these stories are a minority.

You always see Hollywood movies where people struggle and struggle. Eventually they hit their big break and reach success. In real life there are a lot of stories of people who have struggled and never have hit such success. You need to keep things into perspective. Keep your options open.

OP, I understand that school can seem pointless at times. Sometimes it is frustrating when you spend so much time in class learning something that you feel you can learn on your own in 1/10th of the time or even less. Unfortunately, it is the way the system is built in this world. The best way to keep your options open is to at least finish high school. The system sucks, but fighting it sucks even more!

I'm suspecting that maybe you've experienced some bullying in school and it is probably repulsive imagining yourself going back and having to deal with the embarrassment that you quit and then changed your mind. I really think this is the best option for you though and you should seriously consider it.

I've learned that in order to make it far in this world you have to have good connections with other people. Having great relationships with the right people trumps intelligence nearly every time.

As someone who has very high intelligence myself, I did not reach an exceedingly prosperous lifestyle that I thought I would achieve. 2013, was the most depressing year of my entire life, because that is when reality sunk in that the world was not what I thought it was.

That's right, A high IQ means little to nothing is this world, it's become some kind of novelty.
IQ only "counts" or "scales" how intelligent your are, not how successful.

Intelligence alone won't solve all your problems and it might even have some drawbacks.
If you struggle in a poor corrupt country the thought of your life going away with nothing to show due to stupid fuckwits around you will lead in most cases to mental issues.
Imagine knowing you're smart, and getting tossed aside by morons. Giordano Bruno style.

And intelligence won't mean you will be able to work in a team, it doesn't give you leadership capabilities and most times people with high IQ are lone wolfes.

As for the career of dropouts with high iq it's quite normal that companies avoid them.
When you're a dropout it shows you are either having problems integrating yourself in the society or you lack morale or determination to finish something.
A company must run like a good machine nobody will risk putting there an element which might not be compatible with the rest.

The success stories of college dropouts can be counted easily but even they had some level of education.
Quitting while in high school...that's too extreme.

I wouldnt recommend dropping out of school because your peers or teacher is not interested in crypto or blockchain talk. I mean if you have that much passion for the blockchain technology side, why not channel all that passion and energy into studying IT, techy stuff, or programming? My apology im not techy myself.
But you get my point. Stay in school! Fuk what people around u that dont care about crypto and get your education! Do you have any programming knowledge?

Im sure you will unlock alot of potential with that passion of yours, and hope to see you down the road as one of the great blockchain developers that will create something great for all us crypto heads!.

Smh.

Dont get mad kiddo. If you're mad at them, you're maybe one of them right? You're fortunate cause you already understand whats behind the technology. Just go on and go back to school. Education is more valuable than bitcoin or any other cryptocurrencies existing. You still have more years to go.

So,actually you are worrying about what? Do you really feel sad that people just use bitcoin as a quick rich investment or since you have missed the train due to its high price now?

Its true that lots of investors now actually don't know anything about bitcoin. They just invest in it since its price is rapidly increasing. They would not truly contribute for bitcoin progress.Even if they notice a slight fall i price, immediately they would rush to sell it making bitcoin price unstable.

But still,i hope that $2,000 is not possible here after. So,don't wait expecting such a huge fll to buy.Just buy it whe its price falls a little before segwit 2x activation or else, you may miss the train forever.

I don't think that anybody who joined the bitcoin wanted something with its descentralization or blockchain thing. I don't know anybody who didnt make some profit with bitcoin, and with the altcoins growing each day more, this is a good chance to be rich or even have a decent incoming, with good earning and I don't see the problem with that. Bitcoin can't solve all the problems, that's why we have a lot of altcoins.

I did...

I never said having a high IQ guaranteed success. I said a college degree is unnecessary most of the time. It is no guarantee for success. I know many college unemployed graduates. All they have to show for is is their student loan debt. The OPs interest is programming. I know many successful programmers that never went to college and know many more that went that think it was a waste of time. If the OP is serious about build his own blockchain he can do it. Programming is one of those careers that you need to learn while still young. Have you even looked at the latest employment stats in this industry? We have the highest employment rate, and most of these programmers didn't go to college. College will just kill this kid's brain with useless crap. No he won't end up working in a factory is he pursues his passion. What makes people end up in factories is because we teach kids to be followers, force them to do things they are not interested or passionate about. Kid, I say follow your passion and you will never work a day in your life. It won't be easy buy its possible

we really can't prevent anyone from thinking that bitcoin is just like any other form of investment.
it is up to them what they want to do with their coins.
though, i will be very glad to know that they will also have the initiative to learn more about bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general.
because we can't deny the fact that some of us who are engaged in bitcoin is just here to make money.
they wouldn't even know how to explain what is blockchain.
and i believe this is one of the hindrance why bitcoin is not yet being widely use around the globe.
investors doesn't promote it because they do not know how to promote it.
