If to believe the MEW twitter there weren't any kind of attacks and vulnerabilities. Looks like a someone's attempt to spread FUD among the MEW users. It seems there are no things to worry about.
One of the key advantages of MEW is that it can be used offline to sign transactions and do not expose private keys. It is still can be safe even if some kinds of attacks like attack which was implied today occurs one day.
One of the if not the best online ETH and ERC20 tokens wallet I think.

I am one of thousands people here in the community that uses Myetherwallet. Before i got my MEW, i've researched at different forums and read many times that MEW is highly recommended. And i have seen that most ICO's required wallet for ETH is MEW. Also it is ERC-20 capable.

I do use myetherwallet but the wallet seem have error on it at the  moment. Some people said that myetherwallet site got hacked but Iam sure after the team fixed it, It's should be alright now. Thanks

i use myetherwallet even though, i had to ignore it when it was becoming unsafe,  hacking and scamming became so pissing. but i still have the account for later purpose.the last time i used it my token was stolen so i have moved to etherscan to be at a safer side.

Whats a good alternative to MEW?  Metamask is obvious no2, but i dont like it for various aesthetic reasons and it doesnt seem to show stuff easily.  Maybe i need to give it more of a chance, but really want a straight forward local app.

There are other people who uses your wallet maybe you give your private key to other person or you signed up your private key to airdrop or google forms or even in applying in bounty campaigns. There are some other reasons of hacking your wallet like you log in you private key in pishing sites like scam site or other any unauthorized exchanges and platforms.
