Nice catch.

What with all the threads being opened on "What is an activity and where did my postcount go" I guess it would make sense to have the activity field link to this thread.

I'm really confused about how this works... activity = min(time * 14, posts)
I was never good at algebra...

That's ok, you can just trust that it does and go about your business. How it works really isn't important.

As far as my understanding goes it checks how much you log in during two week periods. The activity meter can not go past the amount of posts you have.

Just behave honorably, don't scam and be constructive in your responses and your 'status' really does not matter as long as you are out of Noob/JR status. Tina Turner said it best: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gi_IGuKx4U

min just means the minimum of the two values. Your activity is the lesser of a) time active (in two week periods) * 14 OR b) total posts So if you have been active for 4 weeks and have 40 posts a) 2 * 14 = 28 b) 40 activity = 28 (the minimum of 28 and 40) So if you have been active for 10 weeks and have 62 posts a) 5 * 14 = 70 b) 62 activity = 62 (the minimum of 62 and 70)

The simple explaination is that no matter how much you post, activity can only increase by an average of 1 per day at most.

Actually slightly more than that. I've been here for 360 days, but have an activity of 378

Actually slightly more than that. I've been here for 360 days, but have an activity of 378 This might have just been due to the implementation of the new system with old accounts. I've noticed everyone's activity is a multiple of 14 but I doubt we've all posted an average of at least once a day for each two week period.

LOL, that sounds gay, what I mean is that you are probably the most helpful guy around regarding newbie's questions. I remember my first posts in the newbie subforum, you always helped A LOT. I think that kind of attitude (as per DannyHamilton) should also be rewarded, but I guess it's difficult to have an automatic process for that.

I think that kind of attitude (as per DannyHamilton) should also be rewarded, but I guess it's difficult to have an automatic process for that. No reward necessary. If I did it for rewards, I would have stopped a LONG time ago. I do it because I enjoy it. That is more than enough reward in and of itself. The "status" label is so meaningless and valueless, that it provides no reward incentive at all. Now, as far as being rewarded goes, I'm not above accepting gratuities in the form of bitcoins from those who desire to reward me directly, but even that is unnecessary. Therefore I don't list a "tip" address in my signature line. Someone has to decide of their own volition to want to tip me, and then has to make the effort to contact me and ask for an address they can use to do so. If they aren't motivated enough to do that without prompting, then they shouldn't feel obligated to. I'd have to say, I tend to be a bit surprised at hew few people approach me to hold escrow for their transaction. I know John K. is the best escrow provider on the forum, and I've personally used and recommended him, but due to his geographical location he isn't always available on short notice. I suppose I should be glad that my free time isn't being used up by dozens of escrow requests, but I tend to wonder at times if I've done or said something that has made me appear somehow untrustworthy.

I would think that most people who have followed your help would not think that an escrow would be needed, however, it is always reasonable for them to ask for that (it makes people more comfortable if you are not concerned by such a request). Keep up the good work!

Fixed. Could you also enable sorting the members list on activity instead of (or next to) post count?

That seems somewhat time-consuming. Someone else could write that patch. Activity is stored in an activity column in members. Keep in mind that the forum runs SMF 1.1.18.

min just means the minimum of the two values. Your activity is the lesser of a) time active (in two week periods) * 14 OR b) total posts So if you have been active for 4 weeks and have 40 posts a) 2 * 14 = 28 b) 40 activity = 28 (the minimum of 28 and 40) So if you have been active for 10 weeks and have 62 posts a) 5 * 14 = 70 b) 62 activity = 62 (the minimum of 62 and 70) Thank you, now it makes a lot more sense.
