No, registered date doesn't matter if you haven't posted at least once in each of the two week periods.

Where is the original post announcing that? Seriously? There's loads of threads about it already in this sub. Look through theymos' posts and you'll find it.

Where is the original post announcing that? The legendary rank is set on Aug 11, and the announcement post is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.msg8289534#msg8289534I added a new Legendary membergroup with a yellow coin. I am completely open to the possibility of changing both the name and the coin color if people don't like them. In particular, if people find that threads are now too "glittery" with all of the yellow coins, I will remove the color or make it more subtle. If you think that some other color would work better, download the legendary.gif image, modify it with your color, and post your modified GIF image. Don't change anything but the color of that one region in the image, though. (I make these images by opening the image in GIMP, selecting the colored region, and then using the Colorize tool.) To make things more fun, the Legendary membergroup has no universal activity requirement. You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity, but the exact point in this range at which you become Legendary is random per user.

---It would be a great idea, if you were only allowed to post, if your activity level is around 50. This means activity is independant of your post count. Also limitation in postings a day, depending on your status.
Pros: 1. There would be less newbies posting the same questions all again. 1.1. Less posts, threads more structure, less chaos. 1.2. newbies would learn first to search for their questions in the knowledgepool of the forum, instead of posting 2. More quality posts, less quantity. More the feeling of a professional expert forum, less the feeling of a trollbox.

Activity is currently partly dependant on posts, how would anyone ever reach 50 without posting? How would you suggest "activity" to work? You yourself ask for more quality, yet you did not manage to finish the though before you posted.

You need at least one post every 2 week period to get your activity points.

Wow this is a really complicated system but tends to create loyalty to the forum me likey. I think it's better for it to be complicated as it lessens the odds of people gaming the system and creating too many bogus accounts. It makes it harder for legit accounts as well but that's better than the alternative.

It's not that complicated when you get used to it and see it in action if you've seen this for the first time I can imagine it would be very very confusing and would take a little while until you fully understand.

Yeah, He's a few months away as long as he remains active. I think it takes about 2 years for a noob to become hero. It used to take mere months but I admit, as hard as it has been it's much more worth it given it's now more rare and more of a challenge.

It used to take mere months but I admit, as hard as it has been it's much more worth it given it's now more rare and more of a challenge. To become hero, you only need 480 activity and so you can reach it from scratch in 16 months, assuming you post in every period and make more than 480 posts in total.

Why i've already 38 Posts, and only 14 Activity and Newbie status Each two week period you post in increases your maximum activity by 14. The next two week period is tomorrow (22nd July) at 9:06:40 GMT A complete list of activity periods can be found here :- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=582736.0Glad I found this thread. Very usefull !

Instead of adding new near impossible activity groups (I dont mind legendary), shouldnt we be increasing the activity requirements for each group like we did not long ago? Im not saying straight away but maybe once a year the activity requirements should go up by 10% or something (to avoid a massive number of senior/hero members)? Just a wondering thought

Why would it matter or need to go up by 10%? There's always going to be more of each rank as time goes on. It would be unfair to all the others to be demoted and all people would do is complain about it for months.

Legendary is hardly unatainable, but I think that's the point that's it's only given out to those who have earned it. The ranks were increased a while ago and people were downgraded membergroups and this lead to a few complaining as expected, but if the ranks are changed frequently then the sytem will become confusing and essentially meangingless. It should be chnaged as little as possible, but I see no problem with higher ranks being added as time goes on.
