Hello miners and users!

We’re thrilled to announce a start date to the community:

November 12, 2017 – 7:00 PM UTC

At this point, we will provide download of Bitcoin Gold full node client on our website. The BTG blockchain will officially be live, with blocks mined openly by users and pools from all around the world.
Wallets and exchanges will be able to process deposits, withdrawals and trades (as soon as they are ready). This is the culmination of months of hard work, which have led to many changes and improvements, including:

• Equihash PoW change.
• Implementation of full Replay Protection (BIP143 SIGHASH) (protecting the community from attacks)
• Implementation of a Unique “G” and “A” prefixed Address Format (avoiding accidental coin transactions to incorrect destinations).
• Refinement of the per-block difficulty  adjustment algorithm (to better respond to dynamic changes in hashing power).
• The usual minor tweaks, bug fixes, and improvements.
• Successful mining on several generations of Public Testnet.
• Network & pool integration.

We are extremely grateful for the community around the world who have been contributing hash power to our testnets; besides patiently testing their own mining process, they allow exchanges, pools, wallet developers, and all other service operators to implement and test their support of BTG so that the Bitcoin Gold community can have a full suite of services at launch time. Thank you to all those who have donated their hash power to this effort! We’d also like to extend our gratitude to all those service providers who have been working so hard with us to prepare a fully functional ecosystem at launch.

The results are living proof that a friendly fork can lead to the healthy, organic growth of a new crypto community.

The team is now redoubling efforts in the following areas:

• Improving our documentation so that accurate, up-to-date info is easily accessible for mining.

Will the testnet just merge to the mainnet when it's active or will you be using a different port for the mainnet ?

For example if I was to be mining on the testnet before mainnet goes live will I be auto switched to mainnet or will I need to change something

That would be pool dependent, if your solo mining right now test is 18332 and main is 8332 by default,

Every pool has its own proxy, and its own ports

I think suprnova.cc being a good company, and wanting to keep the transistion perfect would use the same port as they have for testing, this way their customers make no changes, besides what would be the point of keep the -testnet active for the mining pools, nobody wants to mine a 'testnet' that promises zero coin

For the other mining pools, you probably would need to study their 'how to'

The pools will not be getting the code ( source github.com/btcgpu ) any earlier than anybody else, most likely the 'first' to mine, will be those who mine solo, and have their own blocks ready to go when they get the source, ... which is promised 12NOV @ noon, but this the 4th promise in 3 weeks, thus promises mean nothing from BTC-GPU.

WRT to other pool's who knows,

Now POOL.GOLD they're part of the BTC_GPU team, so they will have the code early, and they will probably day's ahead of all other mining pools, because they have insiders advantage, thus MAJORITY of miners will be on POOL.GOLD,

U download their 'testnet' code github.com/btcgpu

U go into bgoldd-daemon.cpp, and you comment out two C++ lines that say "if not -testnet on cmd-line, then throw exit()", then rebuild

Now U have a working wallet to do as you wish.

I suspect that's how these online scams that generate addresses/private-key's are working they have a server running the daemon, but keep the priv-keys in a database for later use ( with-drawing funds from idiots who trusted public websites for wallets ).

Of course someone could also write a python script for generating a 'G' address for BTG, but why bother when u can just comment out two lines of code.

This is going to be exciting. Most bitcoiners thought this coin as dead but its futures are picking up in exchanges right now with considerable volumes. It's far from dead and if the launch is successful it'd have a sustainable future. Bit of a rushed launch announcement if you ask me though. The devs didn't wait a day or two after the announcement in order to launch the network. Either way, this is currency competition in play.

I'm a bit surprised we aren't seeing many complaints about Bitcoin Gold being premined though. With current prices its developers have secured millions in reserves based on their stats for the number of premined coins. Although a price drop would be expected from the actual launch and mining.

Suddenly their pool went online about 15 mins before official launch and after they've released the source to the public their seednodes went down.. For about 10 minutes.. After those 10 minutes the wallet slooowly started to sync (because there was no bootstrap released) and it's still syncing...

So currently, the only pool up is the dev's pool

Can someone confirm? Why was this premine not announced, or done privately in the transition between testnet and mainnet? Why make it appear as though a 19:00 UTC launch was possible? Is it just that the non-official pools are not complying with donating their resources to a premine?

yes. the fork copies the network difficulty at the moment of the snapshot but im pretty sure the diff has already been adjusted.

Your results are correct. It should be more or less 250 ksol/s depending on settings and gpu. The best will be nvidia 1070 (cost to power)

And you are correct it does undermine confidence.  People are more likely to have it on an exchange than a potentially infected QT Wallet.

Again I don't know if that's the case here or not. Perhaps someone with technical knowledge and a stake in this project could reverse engineer the code and check outgoing connections to see if there is a problem or not.

They never said they were infected just that the checksum did not match and should be seen as compromised.

Since there have been 0 reports of stolen funds we can only come up with a few scenarios

1. The files were harmless and were not compromised (Maybe slight corruption on upload)
2. No one downloaded the file during that time (bearing in mins it was only the windows version and pretty much all companies use the linux version or build from source)
3. If it was compromised and a users key was stolen then no action has yet taken place (unlikely since it's been warned the hacker would want a quick exit while it possible)

There is an important step missing where the dots are, before the rest happened. You haven't installed any proper antivirus at this point. Windows 7 legal version, not patched? Comodo 10 payed version or cracked? If not payed legal versions of these two, any of them can introduce virus into your system since you didn't have antivirus. That virus can infect all other software, including the wallet software.
