[BTG] Someone stole my BTC

I tried to access my BTG through my BTC wallet. I guess I told them my seed and fucked up. $280 gone. I trusted the site but well...

I've used a "wallet"-link from their official page but the page seems to updated their wallets and the one is not listed anymore Ah yes, it was http://mybtgwallet.com/

Yep.  There was a couple of other threads on this topic a little while ago as well.

Since BTG appears to be a very poorly prepared fork (which arguably is malicious itself), they list pretty much whatever they can find.  There aren't a lot of legitimate services that are willing to implement their coin into their wallet.

Sorry for your loss.  At least you didn't lose a fortune.

Never reveal your private key in new wallet, always check for reputable wallet. And before entering private key in the Bitcoin Gold wallet, you should send your BTC to another wallet first. It is better to discard the wallet which private key has been disclosed.

Did you give your private key in the website? If yes then you are to be blamed. But a lesson learnt and move on. Never disclose your private key to anyone.

And what do you mean by "I guess I told them the see"?

I saw many fishing websites and emails lately pretending sending links to claim bitcoin gold. Be careful, no wallet send emails like that.

I tried to transfer my funds to exchanger on monday but fees is too high takes up almost half of the btc I have, I leave it waiting for calmer day, yesterday I watch as my btc transfer being confirmed from 1 confirmation until 6 confirmation its totally transferred, I did clicked on the double spending button at blockchain.info but nothing happen, I see lots of people try that too

I never clicked on any phishing email in my whole life. Just trusted in BTG dev team, that was the mistake.

MyBTGWallet was a scammy wallet, they were not going to give you anything, that is why a lot of people have not received their coins and maybe this is one of the main reasons of why bitcoin gold is so expensive at the moment.
I head about a guy who lost his 150 bitcoins because he gave his private key to that site. They emptied all the wallets because they had access to those private keys.
It is a shame, those are the real consequences of using those shady wallets, maybe that is the reason of why i am so afraid of those forks that are not giving anything to the community.

Thank you for posting this thread - I'm also a victim and feeling pretty stupid right now. Bitcoin Gold had http://mybtgwallet.com/ listed on their official site as you say, and I too fell for it. I lost 0.08 BTC, and after today's run up I was going to sell it off. $800 CAD down the drain.

Is there anything that can be done to recover funds (I am a noob, but I keep hearing about replay protection - is there any protection from this)?

Identity is protected by WHOIS GUARD. Contact them with details of this thread and see if they will give up the data, its probably false, but if it is why would they have used it.

Might be worth due to the size of the hack that multiple people email law enforcement agencies about this, with $1 million stolen its no small heist, lets end this crap.

Next time before claiming your forked coins, transfer your BTC to a new wallet.
Then in case of a corrupt wallet, your BTC won't be gone.

I'm sorry for your loss mate.i think you should move your bitcoins first before claiming your ang forked coins i did this on bitcoin cash hard fork just to be sure that your bitcoin is safe for now all you can do is contact the btg wallet support if they are gonna respond and address this problem and hope that they return the bitcoins.

Good idea, I'll see what I can do with them. And thanks for the sympathy... Sucks but then again it's not a ton of cash. Luckily I only had a small portion of my funds in that wallet.

Also good tip above about sending to a new wallet before a fork, I'll keep that in mind.
