This thread is for ideas on possible nicknames for mBTC. After a while I'll set up a vote thread using the most popular ideas and we'll see what this community likes for a nickname. Perhaps a winner by a large margin may cause it's usage to become mainstream! Fame and fortune await whoever creates a clever and fun name for the mBTC. Perhaps, if the nickname catches on, it will help transition people off of using whole BTC for pricing and transition to mBTC. I'll through mine out there: mibs (like ribs but with an m sound)

In my humble opinion.

I don't think we need confusing nicknames, millibitcoin / the metric system in general is just fine. Maybe "millibit" is nice as abbreviation, since it is "almost" the proper metric name, but I wouldn't want (or use) anything fancy just for the sake of having a nickname.

Since the beginning there were always some people who wanted to rename things/move the decimal point/change the default unit in the client/whine about anything. That will never end.

Yeah, let's just use ฿E-3 for milis, ฿E-6 for micros and ฿E-8 for satoshis!

Millibit flows nicely. Though I think that abbreviations and nicknames will come about naturally, much like they have for USD, differing between languages even. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_dollar#Nicknames

Bitmill agreed. its been used in the bitcoin community for years and also in the bitcoin game dragons tale, so i think it wins purely on account of the name being around the longest.. (grandad rights)

Yeah. Millibit is by far the best. It's quick and rolls off the tongue. It's already a nickname, because it's already fast! It's easier to say than "Bitcoin" in my opinion, and it really sticks in your mind.
