People sell their respective bitcoins for the very reason that they believe it is enough for them to earn more than what they have spent on the capital. Perhaps, they are going to invest it again for more or even cash it out to use the money. Furthermore, they would most likely use it for something worth it.

Well ideally bitcoin is a means of investment, but if you really need the money for whatever reason, you have to sell the coins to get some sort of fiat currency back.
