And being a whiny baby is your right.  WAAAAH, THEY WON'T SELL IT TO ME AT $2500 A MINER!  WAAAAAAH

rifleman74, despite being the fool he clearly is, makes an important point here. He proves all of this is going to work out just fine. Nothing's going to change. Canaan can ride the price up as they please. There will still be sheep to buy in on that, kissing their hands in gratitude. And waging forum flames in their defense. Nothing else's left to say.

Wait until Bitmain reprices their next batch.   It's not going to be cheap!   bitcoininsanity will be sleeping in a van down by the river in a few months at this rate.

https://slashdot.org/story/18/01/08/1713247/china-plans-to-kill-most-of-the-worlds-bitcoin-mining-operations

Quote
Leaked documents suggest the Chinese government plans an "orderly exit" for bitcoin mining operations in the coming weeks and months. In the documents, issued to the local offices of the internet-finance regulator, authorities were instructed to force mining operations out of business using measures linked to electricity pricing, land use, tax and environmental protection.

Looks to me that the most reasoneable is to wait and meanwhile avoid to be milked like a "baaaaaa" or a "muuuuuhh"

lol, that has nothing to do with selling of miners.   Try learning how to read just once in your life.

"Legally binding tax" has nothing to do with accepting payments in Bitcoin. If you account for it right, it's all the same. I do accept payment in Bitcoin for real-life services and it works for me.

All I am hearing from you guys in this thread is "Baaa". You mean you're fine with paying 4k for 11Th/s since "it's all with profits now anyway" or "it's early hence the price"? That's ridiculous.

Also see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2627311.msg27733022#msg27733022

Had you been here longer than just today you might have noticed I never said anything
about buying at this price. Is it just a coincidence that you chose only this thread to troll on?
Doubtful. Your shillings are more "Baaa" than anything. Typical.

Yep, brand new account...hasn't been around more than 24 hours.   Had all the money ready to buy a machine and boom, the price went up.  Now he's crying like a little baby.

Is a 10 month ROI responsible? Not for me.
Cyrpto is a gamble, and 10 months ROI is scary.

For $4000 you can buy 5 1080 TI's
Yesterday 1080 TI's were making between $9 to $14 per card per day. (miniing skunk and nist5)
Call it $10 each or $50/day total at about 900 watts, my electricity is .14/kw, so about $3, leaving $47 net

$47/day into $4000 make an ROI of 85 days,
$47/day is almost double a $4000 Avalon

I am not a bitcoin purist, I need the money to help fund college for 2 teenagers, so Altcoins are fine.

I also did get a February M3 for $1950 last week.  Same hash rate? 80% more power ($1.50)

a $4000 Avalon does not make sense for me.

But some people have strong convictions

Regarding avalon 8,  please keep in mind that the availability right now is super tight. The ASIC market is going crazy and it was hard to get some early A8's now. We expect wide availability somewhere in march or later.

Just over $4,000 shipped to US with delivery around February 1.  I might hate myself later, but I am passing on this.

They are on the CryptoUniverse site now.

Nah, with the market looking the way it is these prices are way too much of a gamble. Good on you for not giving into speculation and FOMO.

No matter what you guys from Cryptouniverse say. This price is absolute JOKE. I trully do not believe this mashine will ever ROI on that value. You probably know that on average the diff is climbing 8% per month. Just a BIG JOKE. Greediness is not good.

So I received my 741 from Crypto-universe about an hour ago and it is up and mining on slush pool. Though I agree that Canaan has overpriced the 821, crypto-universe has great customer service and shipping only took a week to the United States. Thanks again I'll be sure to leave you trust!

Were there any duty/import fees to the US?

Nice, good to know. Congrats on your 741! Still bummed I wasn't able to score one, especially after seeing the 821 pricing.

So, I'm completely confused.  I heard from the Crypto guys yesterday, they *claim* that the VAT is subtracted from a US sale.  But it doesn't seem to be that way.  There are 821's there, and if you go through the process, it will try to bill you $4100 US.   However typically VAT is 20% so take 3347 minus 20% and convert that to USD and it should say that someone in the US can buy them for ~3000.00 USD.  But that's aint working.  Did anyone in the US buy an 821?  If so, was the VAT removed?  And what was the net price?

Curious minds want to know.

I also received the 2 x 741 units today. It took less than a week for delivery. Fast service for sure.

Thanks for the heads-up Smiley

It will be similar to 741, once availability gets better (around march or later) , the device will also be cheaper from china for us. Right now the ASIC market is crazy.

See Canaan's official information:
Quote
Ship dates: After we finish the last 741 and 761,  the 821 will go into production in January. I wish I had exact dates, but as of today I only have estimates. We should be able to ship to a small number of customers in late January. We will contact the customers who have been selected for January shipment, so please be patient.

In February and March volumes will increase, but be advised that February has Chinese New Year and we will shut down between the 14th and the 23rd.

They said that would be removed after it's all said and done.  That's what I was told.

Did they say what % of VAT would be deducted? 20% would make a pretty big difference.
