Just like heroin or crack cocaine, it creates an addiction.
Same as was gambling
Many in here seem to have been caught up in it, spending far too much of their money on something. Partially to get the dopamine rush of buying more coin, and partially to satisfy their gambling lust hoping to score big.
It is no different than the people gambling their savings away on the roulette. Right now we are at the point where they have entered the casino and have been lucky, so they are up more money than they came. But instead of quitting while they are ahead they genuinely believe that their luck continues.
In the end it ends bad.
Indeed. Bitcoin can be like a heroin in a good way that it becomes popular to every users and upon using it, it is undeniable that you are getting addicted on using it to earn an income. Yes it is like a drug that even if it has a positive effect for your life, but still there are present risks in which you can be into. It also have a negative effect on the mind in a way that too much using it can make you greedy on having more money which is bad because the essence of using it as a currency turns out to make people become too much crazy and addicted on the bad way.

You are absolutely right. Its very addicting. I have invested a little, and now a days, due to that dip, I sometimes can't even sleep. Sometimes I wake up during my sleep to check the rates. This trading thing has made me sick. I am thinking of putting my investment still in one alt-coin and let it stay there as long as I need it back, and I hope that it increase its value, that will be some extraa favour !

Hello all! Some similar thing we can notice in this comparing when we talk about money game and heroin addicted people. I think people without the internet access can be aggressive as children's without Internet or smartphone or online games who can kill theirs parents because they don't allow play in DOTA . Somehow in anything we can find some good or negative sides in everything!

Both gambling and Drug taking is serious addiction, One ruins your health and mental state and other ruins your financial position. Both Cocaine and gambling gives you serious FUN in beginning but at end it just ruins your quality of life. Actually Gambling addiction is kind of serious mental illness where a person may looses everything on just one table without thinking its consequences in life.

This opinion of yours is very true, if once regularly observe the rate of Bitcoin and seeing the growth and you earn profit from that growth by investing, trading then at that Bitcoin is an addictive thing will not least what heroin because you look out you will have profit as if investing in Bitcoin. So investment now in the Bitcoin to the 2018 year earned more profit possible.

You have a great opinion but not everyone could consider it. It is like saying bitcoin is saying bitcoin is a drug. But let's not remove those observable facts that you've said. Bitcoin can make you crazy because of how its value typically rises. This made every user be more dedicated to be in bitcoin. As a matter of fact most of them almost think of living their present job, just like any other who posted a thread about it. But in the end it will all be about those who allow them to take bitcoin as an heroine. Life is a choice.

Yes OP exaggerated a bit with comparing bitcoin with heavy drugdayI agree that we are addicted, bitcoin offers us good chances to earn big money and we come here everyday and and we hope for the best. After months and years doing the same we surely become addicted to all this crypto world and I notice that I often add bitcoin into my conversations with friends. Unlike drugs being addicted to bitcoin is better and healthier for sure, and that is the future where we can become richer and more independent.

It's the bitcoin expectation that gets people addicted, the expectant state creates a large rush of dopamine. It can actually be addicting because your body up-regulates the dopamine receptors, so requires more.
If you are getting beyond just fascination with it, try putting a timer on your device and only check when the timer goes off, just to space out the dopamine effect.

You're right! There are people out there who prefer fast but risky way of earning bitcoin rather than a little bit slow but secured way of earning. Due to that kind of attitude, those people choose to gamble their money and try to push their luck there. In gambling, you feel motivated when you are winning so there's a tendency that you will bet more, and you will get frustrated if you are losing so there's a tendency to buy more and try again your luck. This addiction is like a maze that you can't easily escape.
I can say that I'm also addicted to bitcoin but not in that way. I'm addicted to it in a sense that it takes a lot of my time, it consumes a lot up to the point that I failed to do my household chores sometimes. But fortunately, I can still control myself.

Heroin did not try, but the fact that bitcoin is a narcotic substance is true. Now it is so popular that everyone has heard about it. I myself am now actively monitoring the news in the world of crypto-currencies. Therefore, I can say that the future belongs to him. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

A lot of people ruins themselves in Stock Exchange - so stock or money is heroin? bullshit! If you don't know Bitcoin or Trading or Investing - why do you even bet on Bitcoin? Gambling is a game for some people, they get some fun in gambling, they don't bet everything on Gambling - only loosers does. Bitcoin is no heroin or addicting something - you need to know investment basics before you bet on bitcoin.

We are all somehow dependent on money. Be it bitcoin or another currency. Lautomo in a sense, it can be compared with narcotic. The only difference is that in the absence of drugs, the addict starts breaking and the crypto currency receivers have a new incentive to extract it.

Well even money or paper money can be considered an addiction especially if we let it run our loves. HOwever I still think that mo ey or cryptocurrency is a neccessity and it has to be handled with care and that is something we can all agree on doing.
