In my view dogecoins was just hitted it's lucky strike when it got shouted by elon musk and when the crypto hype started to spreading around the world, there are a lot of people who knows the dogecoins first before they know bitcoin more over the crypto space itself.
So dogecoin is a memecoins which blessed with it's luck to create a massive pump to the crypto market and affected so big caused of many people joined the market

But on the contrary, I feel that I was familiar with Bitcoin before getting to know Dogecoin thoroughly in the crypto space, so what I am still monitoring and seeing at the moment is Bitcoin, then new altcoins including Dogecoin which is a meme coin but is still very good to own. in the short term.

I think he was trying to say that we should thank dogecoin because dogecoin make the crypto space more popular. It is hard to deny it but its true because doge coin started the meme coin hype and this leads for many newbies to enter because of the will to earn easy money and after they fail they will then explore for more possibilities and found that there more in crypto.

We that are much early to get involved in crypto, it was the bitcoin that we discovered first because there are no other hypes before but btc is only the known coin because it has the highest value among other cryptos. Anyway, I cant say doge is a failure because of its value but it should not be considered for long term investment.

Dogecoin never really "succeeded" to let alone fail. I get that it reached a higher price than people assumed but just because price went up once doesn't mean that it succeeded anything. The key for a project to be successful is to actually be useful for something and to be bought for some other reason then "it could be going up soon". Why do you buy btc, just because of investment? Many users have said dogecoin will die soon or later for different reasons. From the day I got to know the term cryptocurrency I've known about dogecoin, because it was one among the altcoin in the top order.

I've never thought of dogecoin to have any real-time usage, but it is possible to see any gambling platform to have dogecoin among the list of accepted cryptocurrencies. I expect absolutely nothing less from a coin without any form of utility, Elon musk and his team has made all the money they wanted from hyping dogecoin and those who are gonna end up loosing now are those who trusted too much in all the stuffs Elon tweeted.
Alot of guys invested in dogecoin of recent because Elon/tesla started accepting it as a form of payment, but in reality, this is not actually a utility, but another Elon musk's trick to cash in even more on his remaining dogecoin which i believe he bought when the price were still close to zero.
Investors should should use  their brains and stop chasing after hype, but only invest in projects with real and verifiable utility because utility equals long term survival and value.
