As most analyst says, 2018 is the year of the Altcoins.
It is time to diversify. Research, select and invest wisely, and you could potentially see substantially greater %gains compared to simply holding BTC IMO.

I think altcoins are a great way to make more money. I recommend doing a lot of reading about which altcoins are most promising. I recommend still keeping a lot of BTC, but investing in several different alts. I think ETH is good and I also think PinkDate is a good ICO. I personally like their referral bonus. I look for that in a lot of projects because it's a potential to make more.

To profit from Altcoins, buy PRECISELY when altcoins have dropped by a lot.
Because whenever the market recovers, those same altcoins also tend to recover by a lot too; which is significantly due to their comparatively much lower MCAP compared to BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC, etc. (which requires substantially much more investment to make it go up).

But IMO, need to avoid the riskier low MCAP shitcoins, and identify and target only selected altcoins that you are confident have a good reason that they will be pumped during a bull market.

To be honest, 12 bitcoins is enough to live comfortably for a long time. I would withdraw this money into fiat (all or part of them) and use it to open my own business or invest in real estate. My opinion is very different from the others  and perhaps it looks wrong,but that's what I would have done

I would suggest you decide to invest some portion of your btc on good to high quality altcoins and projects as diversification is so important in managing wealth. And then keep some of your BTC for years (you'll never regret this).
Plus, trade some of your BTC and grow it even more. ☺

In my opinion, It is better to diversify for a higher return.
But first, it is better to make your own research and trust your guts.

The most of the privacy coins are undervalued right now.

The best opportunity is to find a privacy-related project with a low total supply (less than 100M), that way the price will be increasing much faster.

Hold these coins as close a s possible,  the phase two of BTC boom is coming so id advice you don't trade them for anything, just be patient, i know it may sound scary especially now that people are panicking and selling, but be wise and look at the long term out come, hold them as ;long as possible.

I have 12 Bitcoins. I am not a whale. I started about 6 months ago with 0.01 Bitcoins and $1000. I turned it into 12 Bitcoins so far and am pretty proud to say the least.

My question is, what do I do now?

As far as I can see, I have 4 options;

1) Hold the Bitcoin

2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin

3) Fund a project and start my own cryptocurrency that solves a problem that current currencies face (scalability, Tx fees etc.). With the funds, I would be able to assemble a team, start a marketing campaign, get listed on exchanges etc. I am also a programmer which helps.

4) Convert it to fiat (probably the dumbest idea)

Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies.

A few people have asked how I made my money so, if you are interested, here is a short summary:

Initially, I put it all into Bitcoin during the massive FUD of the fork around June when Bitcoin dipped to $1,900. Then I put half my money into NEO before all of the hype at around $12 and cashed out at $40. Then I invested in a couple ICO's and turned a pretty good profit of off the hype. After that, I got back in on NEO as soon as China announced the regulations regarding ICO's and rode the wave back from around $20 to $40 (I can't quite remember). Then, I rode the hype of Ethereum Dark, eBitcoin and a few other airdrop scams. Finally, I got in on Wincoin before it got to coinmarketcap and turned a 20x profit.

i think the best way for you holding 10BTC and trading with only 2 BTC, you can buy LTC or NEO or ETH with this 2 BTC, fo mid term

I suggest you to keep buying umbrella coins, ethereum and neo. Geow your stash with these coins, over time both of them will keep gaining more value. I even expect to see 10x more on both coins..

It's great holding  bitcoin. I could suggest to you to
just hold it as  long as you can keep it,  and wait until the market price gets high. Do a research and careful about investment. They say that 2018 will be  great  for bitcoins,  holding your bitcoins will be profitable in the near future. Wait until  it's market price soar high.

having 12 BTC is good man, if i were you i will keep 6 and put the other 6 in very good alts, you will double or triple your BTC holding with 50% of the alt you buy in no distant time if you are lucky to have a good alt.
Then you can keep repeating that with 50% of your BTC holding while you keep the other half for the days ahead.

You can divide your fund into 2 parts, a half of your fund can spend to invest in altcoins and the rest Bitcoin will keep holding. You can consider to invest good altcoin
