Are all the KGC Pools now dead? Is this coin still going? I can still solo mine, but not as effective as a couple of weeks ago.
Where is Nibiru? ( the dev ) Last Active: April 07, 2014, 09:03:49 PM I'm prepared to do any basic maintenance work on this coin (eg adding hardened checkpoints) to keep it going. Can't help with pools, unfortunately.

The wallet needs some performance fixes before I'll put it back on my pools. It was a huge resource hog.

Since KGC is just basic PoW it shouldn't be too hard to redo the code by forking from more current source of another coin. Has anyone else experienced such issues with KGC? edit: I just looked more closely at my *coin machine, and right now krugercoind is taking 20% of one CPU core. I wonder why?

No idea what its doing, but add it to a pool and have people mining into it, and it'll be 4x-5x more CPU.

and that is just idle. No idea what its doing, but add it to a pool and have people mining into it, and it'll be 4x-5x more CPU. The 15 second block time probably doesn't help with resources. Out of the 58 coin wallets I currently have running, KGC has the most blocks (over 2 million - more than double the next highest) and ranks third in overall RAM usage (532MB), and first in resident RAM usage (495MB). Could just be that the db is growing too large and getting out of hand. Perhaps a redo from source which uses leveldb, and a change to block time (double period) could do the trick. If not, it's only going to get worse.

I would think changes as you suggest would help if someone was able to do a hardfork and if it would survive it.

Just did getinfo:

debug.log also has multiple instances of "Db::put: Cannot allocate memory"
Never seen these errors before, with any coin. Maybe a sign of things to come...

this coin was a huge hog on resources, CPU and memory. I likley used up all of your memory.

Mined a couple today... Payout does not Show up at all...!!?! Not in my own wallet and also not on Cryptsy...!!?! This has been reported before for many other coins these guys offer and I always ask, why do you think a mining pool would offer 0%... well... now you know.

Not a big loss... I've just thrown the consolidated hashpower of a Fury against it. >;-) Still i lost a few hundred coins... :-(
Update: Not even sure this pool is mining Krugercoins at all... The actual diff my wallet reports is: 0.200216 vs 0.00883861 shown in the block reports of that pool....
So it looks the missuse our hashing power for some pre-mine or whatever :-(

Does look like a fork, if you compare http://ispace.co.uk/coindetails/?coin=kgc to your wallet they're (currently) a few thousand blocks behind. It's possible you are being paid out on the forked chain, but of course you'll never see the funds. Bear in mind you haven't really "lost" those coins, because if you were on the correct chain the difficulty would have been much higher and you would have mined less. But yes, you have probably wasted hashing power.

That would explain the situation. But why would somebody create a fork and Maske an pool available on it in first place?

I doubt a pool would deliberately create their own fork, but if you have issues it can be surprisingly easy to inadvertently create a fork. If you manage to mine a few blocks while you're not connected to the rest of the network, and stay disconnected for more than a couple of hours, your client will refuse to recognise the main chain once reconnected. Could even be as simple as the pool operator having a separate wallet for the pool and himself, he was mining KGC, and his internet link died for a couple of hours. Fork time.

The Krugercoin wallet completely synced for me, then I went ahead and sent a transaction to the Cryptsy exchange. Everything still works as expected, just because a coin doesn't get very many posts on this "Bitcoin" forum, does not necessarily mean it is 'dead'.
