Can't wait to pay my $40 transaction fee, wait a hour, all to get my $5 worth of food! Guess Bitcoin isn't to useful here. For bitcoin to survive, it needs to scale within a few months.

I do not believe it will happen in the near future. Imagine you eat for $ 10 and you have to pay a $ 5 transfer fee to $ 15 total. You should be more efficient but become more extravagant. But I believe in the future that when bitcoin prices are stable and the cost in every transaction is cheaper, it will happen. Not only McD but maybe a gas station, mini market, or public facility place make bitcoin as a legitimate payment instrument and used every day and every time.

I had similar thoughts in my head...very large fees for such small payments...but maybe in the future the situation will be vhanged and it will really be very comfortable for people paying bitcoins even for fast food)

I think it's a good idea but it seems like it takes a long time to get it later McDonaldS will accept bitcoin as a means of payment.

In a future where the main currency is bitcoin, this would be possible. Currently, it is better to get the source from McDonalds itself rather than other places.

All the news i have read from crypto daily seem fake to me. I wouldnt trust that website

I don’t trust this particular report neither

No source from MCd have ever mentioned  that. Just a betting site
And it talks of Argos accepting bitcoin... yea right maybe in future but I
Don’t see that anytime soon and not in 2018.

Since 2014 there’s been talk of Expedia accepting bitcoin and even websites like 99bitcoin have articles
Saying Expedia accept bitcoin now when they don’t. If they did bitcoin price would skyrocket. Just as if amazon if and when they do start accepting bitcoin

I do hope they all in the future accept bitcoin but not when the average tx fee for me is above 20 USD as I use all
The above mention services/ company’s to purchase from via GBP Fiat. Consumers don’t benefit from any of these companies accepting bitcoin until tx cost and time issue are permanently steady if that’s ever going to happen

If this news is true then that's a good one this will make every McDonalds lover to buy McNuggets or Big Mac and pay with the use of bitcoin. This is just the start of crypto payment and that's going to help the community because it will give a big demand.

This will never work as presented (paying btc on a case by case basis for each order). too many factors that already make it a pain; fees, speed, variable state of the network and volatility. but, there is another way that people fail to mention..

PREPAY to a wallet that tracks with the price , or allows you to convert btc at will to MCD (LOL, the assumed "token" of McDonalds). Since the value was already transferred and confirmed, you can use a blockchain that doesnt need a huge consensus to operate (this doesnt even need to be a blockchain, if you think about it, just a list of balances. no one is going to dispute these transactions). gets around the time and fee issue very cleanly.

Does that even make sense with the current transaction times and fees? You are going to pay more for the fees than for your meal. Unless the fees go down drastically, it makes no sense to use bitcoin as a daily payment method.

using lightning sure its possible!

This is the only way I see it working, fees and slowness will not allow it to work in a traditional sense!

Haha maybe there is a possibility,
But in a long way like Mcdonald membership or loyalty card where in you can put your bitcoins in to points to claim or buy items, but it is better to follow their official website for updates and timely news.

Agreed, using BTC for direct transactions would make no sense, but them creating the MCD token or perhaps using an internal blockchain like the exchanges might work. But, as long as crypto becomes more useable, I am all for it. I can say this though, I sure don't want to wait for my burger while confirmations occur!
