I have some debt for AUCTION! I've not had time to pursue this debt and it's now up for auction! Debt is owed in BTC however, collection through the courts would result in a judgement in GBP. From what I know, up to 10k GBP can be awarded with very little cost and would not require legal representation.

This auction entitles the winner to the sole rights to this debt. It also entitles you to my cooperation as required to collect the debt. All lenders have been very helpful and I will provide to you what they provided to me if you purchase (PMs, etc.) To a citizen in the U.K., this could be a very good deal. Likewise, to a saavy researcher elsewhere, there is value here. The Chicko debt is a *bonus.* I am also throwing in BTC0.4899 that is owed to me by tealover for a Radeon 5830. He literally may login at anytime, or he may never come back. Details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=224772

Bids will be in USD and can be paid in BTC, LTC, USD (Amazon, Dwolla, Paypal). Other arrangements will be considered, check with me prior to bidding. Amount due will be quoted based on BTC-E at the end of auction.

Auction ends: Thursday, July 11, 11:30 p.m. CST
Total Debt: BTC210.4699
Starting Bid: $10
Minimum Bid Increment: $5

Borrower: DI

Some selling points:
  • Both DI and Girlfriend are very active on public facebook pages
  • Digital trail is a mile long with activity on a blog, forums, and other misc. gaming sites
  • Very distinct grammar and term usage that could be searched
  • Identity of some family members is known
  • Multiple aliases are known, and he is perhaps still active on these forums under a different name
  • He is relatively conversant and willing to discuss the matter
  • Admins have IP address that could be creatively used to link DI by location and date
  • He owes others including Goat and Giga and dozens for shirts that were not delivered, they may be willing to help
  • He has been mining on his hardware for over a year and may have a stash of bitcoins

Negatives:
  • He is quick to hide behind a british harassment law that he cited, but I’m unsure if it actually applies to criminal debt
  • Claims someone stole his identity to do this
  • I do not have any phone numbers or addresses, but they could be found easily
  • The kid has no real job
  • Family has money, but he was 19 when he perpetrated the crime, so unsure of liability

Oh, I see some of it is from others.

As second hand debt, I'm not sure how easy it will be to recover.

An address would be the minimum I'd need to be able to see if the debt was recoverable at all. It would also likely need to be denominated in GBP but with the rapidly fluctuating value it would be really difficult to pin down.

If this post was useful, interesting or entertaining, then you've misunderstood.

He has resources.

Just so it's clear.... please refrain from commenting/contacting DI for collection purposes until the close of auction. It could affect the winner's ability to collect.

Bitcoin itself is in legal grey area. For someone willing to put in the time, they may be able to resolve this debt or a portion of it outside of the courts through family members, or with some preparation, successfully take it to court for a settlement.

The problem for UK debt collectors will be the lack of an address and also the fact that it's second hand debt.

It's fine if someone wants to personally collect but legitimate debt collection agencies aren't going to want to take this on.

What if someone really stole his ID?

Extremely unlikely. As I said in the OP, there are several unique language markings that provide a link between his forum account here and what he's posted elsewhere on the internet. A language analysis would confirm this.

You can read the threads for yourself, if you're serious about bidding, I can provide even more info/thoughts via pm.

PMs replied to. I have done some work on this, but much of the data gathering, strategy, and collection will need to be done. If I had done many of these things, I would simply fly to the U.K. and collect my 10,000 GBP through the court system myself or hire an agency. There is substantial value here and the potential of BTC200 worth of GDP but you will need to do the work to obtain it. There are many ways to extract value here with little investment but without wanting to "show the cards" so to speak (if DI is, infact lurking here) you will need to PM me if you are interested in my thoughts.

There are many ways to collect this debt legally, including a settlement with DI or his father, who is an engineer, or court proceedings.

There is also a good possibility that tealover will come back and repay his BTC0.5 which would cover the current bid amount.

There is also a good possibility that tealover will come back and repay his BTC0.5 which would cover the current bid amount.

But he will always just say he can't pay it, he doesn't have the money.

You can't harass him out of it because there are laws protecting him from getting phone calls or you showing up at his doorstep.

There are many ways to collect this debt legally, including a settlement with DI or his father, who is an engineer, or court proceedings.

There is also a good possibility that tealover will come back and repay his BTC0.5 which would cover the current bid amount.

But he will always just say he can't pay it, he doesn't have the money.

You can't harass him out of it because there are laws protecting him from getting phone calls or you showing up at his doorstep.

There are many ways to collect without harrassment. DI communicated with me freely regarding the situation and offered to return to this forum to resolve the issue. Assets are easily provable with his public Facebook page.

Great price. I contacted a few businesses about this. Only two got back to me. 1 said they could not do it because the debt was made a very long time ago and don't like virtual currencies.
The other one said they would need to look into it further and maybe contact previous owners of the loan. But, being Bitcoin it would be hard because previous owners of the debt may not want to disclose any of their personal information. But, they said other than that they could do it.

Confirmed. I will send the documentation no later than Monday.

For the record, all debts that I hold from Double Icaras aka Alexander Adams (Jr.), tealover, and sirchiko now belong to thehun.

Thanks again, and good luck!

If it was in a fiat currency a legal contract may actually stand in court. If the contract states Bitcoin, nobody will take it seriously at all. The best hope here is to show up to his house personally and harass him until he pays 1% of it.

I don't have too big hopes of being able to collect but for this price it's definitely worth a shot. I have a friend in the UK who has some contacts in the debt collection business so I'll see what I can scratch. I'll keep you posted.

WTF?!  The hacker that hijacked my account for a day actually admitted to it on this thread.  How incredibly odd.  He placed bids on other threads which fucked up their bidding entirely...at least for you guys he admitted he had stolen my identity for his posts...and apparently the op took him at his word and ignored the bid.

I am seriously unclear what his endgame was.  Seems like some of his motivation was simply to harass me and discredit my name, and I really don't remember pissing anyone off enough to warrant this.  Doesn't seem he was successful at scamming anyone while disguised as me, so why the hell even do it in the first place...I really don't get it.

By the way I am the victim of identity theft, I do not owe anyone anything.

I did not write the above two posts, nor any post on Wednesday 7/10/2013.  I did however, log in
two days later to discover much havoc caused by some random asshole who stole my login info, or
hacked it or whatever, posed as me and wrote a bunch of random shit all over the forum, insulting
senior members along the way.  In reviewing the posts from that day, I find he was gloating about
it here on this post...he bids on this thread, then proceeds to say he is the victim of identity theft.

He seems to be very pleased with himself here...I can almost hear a nerdy cackle through the wires.

For 30$ you will get no chance instead of very little chance... That is good deal for someone...
