So it's happening in less than 24h?
149 blocks  =  1490 minutes  =  24 hours approximate !

I will keep eye on the activities of next 24 hours with exception of few hours of taking rest. If the forked coins which will be called BCA has good appreciation and price then will go ahead to claim them immediately else will sit back and watch future rises when more support appear.

of course not. does it matter? if it has some cool ideas it might make some people a bit of money. if it has some really cool ideas it might stick around. at least it's trying to do something beyond just being a fork for the sake of it.

What exchanges support atom fork?
you have the list of their partners in their website
I only saw 3, poloniex? bittrex? kraken? coinbase?

Bitlish is also listed as exchange for BCA

Question please, this is my first post:

I'm also new to crypto.  I have (finally) verified USD funding in Kraken exchange.

As I understand it, to claim the Bitcoin Atom, I need to
-
  • buy Bitcoin (not ETH or any other crypto) on Kraken,
    - transfer it to my wallet
    - then go ONLY to an exchange that will award the BCA to Bitcoin owners, such as Bitlish
    - transfer my new bitcoin into my Bitlish account
    - and wait for the fork tomorrow
Have I missed anything?

Thanks for the help
(Wow, I haven't seen one of these old bulletin board formats in years! This was more of a challenge than getting tier 3 verification on Kraken...almost  Wink)

i've never heard of this exchange. ever.

you'd be better off withdrawing to a wallet you control. wait for the fork, send your bitcoin out to another wallet you control and then sweep the bitcoin atom private key into coinomi. sit back and wait to see how bitcoin atom trades. if it's popular it'll wind up on other exchanges.

Me either. Sketchy as fuck. Agreed to wait on other exchanges. Don't go mindlessly registering for this exchange guys.

Thanks for the alternative path...I was under the impression that if you don't have your Bitcoin on one of the Bitcoin Atom-partnered exchanges, you won't get the additional BCA token just because you own Bitcoin.

Bitlish was announced on the Bitcoin Atom Twitter feed today.
It's a British exchange.
Bitcoin Atom made the announcement on its own twitter page. https://twitter.com/atombitcoin
I imagine someone could have hacked it but how would we know? It quacks like Bitcoin Atom.

My question still stands: assuming Bitlish is legit (I looked into coinomi but I have an Apple phone, not Android),
I still don't know for sure whether the steps I outlined above are correct or if I'm missing something.
I just got funds in today.  I'd like to make sure I can get BCA because there's not much time left it seems.

thanks!

Don't do anything. It's seriously not worth risking your funds for a shitfork.. you're literally going to be gambling with this. NO VET HERE HAS HEARD OF THIS EXCHANGE BEFORE. Keep your funds in a wallet you control, always, and never leave anything on an exchange.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate your looking out for a newbie.

But seriously, no one has heard of Bitlish though Bitcoin Atom says it's legit?  And you think BCA is likely just another, potentially worthless fork?

thanks, I know there are many many risks in crypto but seems to my newbie brain that picking up a potential runner (there's a lot of good tech in BCA) is a no brainer.

nope. all you need is bitcoin private keys. that's how all bitcoin forks work. no one would bother if you had to put bitcoins into an unknown exchange. to move them you do indeed need a bitcoin atom wallet.

Just hold and see where the ride takes you. I've been around the block and back... splitting coins is a very technical process and you need to be comfortable with doing it. If you aren't comfortable with even the concept of throwing stuff on an unknown exchange like Bitlish forking your coins is the least of your worry. Hold onto your private key, and once you're more seasoned look into the fork later. It can be incredibly difficult to know what to look for.

Splitting coins is easy as long as there are wallets for them.

To be fair on bitlish then of course a new fork won't go on a premier league exchange.

Still, there ain't no hurry.
