I am still waiting for perfect altcoin, that
1) doesn't wait for to block to be mined in order to confirm tx, and therefore has truly instant transactions
2) has some sustainable retention policy, instead of keeping things in ever growing blockchain forever
3) with incentives to nodes, not just miners
4) with privacy similar to Monero
5) with functionality similar to ETH, but with ability to fix bugs in that functionality
Once it is out there, I will buy it.

You said you are investing in bitcoin, that isn't an altcoin. 

Best to make your own decisions in what altcoins to invest, like that if you fail to make a profit or lose your cash, you can't blame anyone but yourself.

Right now I would advise buying ETC because it will soon have a hardfork, they will limit the number of coins, which should positively affect the price.

The number of coins, is that the only requirement to invest in it? Isn't it more important for ETC to have adoption, like ICOs and dApps? I can see only 3 ICOs on the Ethereum Classic blockchain.

I put high hopes on stratis and ethereum classic! i find these 2 coins undervalued and when the market recovers after bitcoin rally and its forks, then there will be the chances to see the rates of last  spring. I hope to see x5 next year or even more.

Salt is a great one!  They are going to allow you to use your BTC as collateral to get a loan for a car or house.  So you dont lose your BTC and as long as you pay off the loan in FIAT then you dont lose anything.  Its a great PRACTICAL use for a coin that everyone can use.

I will support the choice of those guys, who choose Ethereum and NEO. Both of the projects have been developed the best way and both cryptocurrencies will grow in 2018 year. I would add Litecoin for this pair of coins.

I think the next few months will see a lot of money flowing into Monero. It usually lags behind other cryptos in gains but then makes up for it with some insane bull runs, usually (almost) doubling the price.

Right for now it's better to invest in Cardano. Buy its tokens. They are growing like with a rocket speed. This is good shortterm investment. Another old good choice is Ethereum. Nothing more. ETH is good and growing.

Ethereum and litecoin are the 2 big coins for me to invest in right now because those two coins are the back up for bitcoin in my opinion and getting those coins will give a lot of possibility for us in the future.
