its official on face book

Dear NiceHash users!

Unfortunately, there has been a security breach involving NiceHash website. We are currently investigating the nature of the incident and, as a result, we are stopping all operations for the next 24 hours.

Importantly, our payment system was compromised and the contents of the NiceHash Bitcoin wallet have been stolen. We are working to verify the precise number of BTC taken.

Clearly, this is a matter of deep concern and we are working hard to rectify the matter in the coming days. In addition to undertaking our own investigation, the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and law enforcement and we are co-operating with them as a matter of urgency.

We are fully committed to restoring the NiceHash service with the highest security measures at the earliest opportunity.

We would not exist without our devoted buyers and miners all around the globe. We understand that you will have a lot of questions, and we ask for patience and understanding while we investigate the causes and find the appropriate solutions for the future of the service. We will endeavour to update you at regular intervals.

While the full scope of what happened is not yet known, we recommend, as a precaution, that you change your online passwords.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused and are committing every resource towards solving this issue as soon as possible.

Damn. So all the balances did in fact get "stolen".

Now to wait 24 hours and see if they plan to compromise users at all.

Always doubt.

Somewhat glad that I was only mining with my 1060 for 1 day and had a $3 balance. I can call this a failed experiment. Sorry for others who most likely lost their hard earned cash. I hope they find the hackers and give them the beating they deserve.

4700 BTC sounds like a lot but it's probably just a few days or 1 week worth of nicehash accumulation. I doubt this will mean the end for nicehash, but definitely take a massive confidence hit and reduced user numbers.

Any small-time player who lost money can quickly make it back while mining over the next few days - without nicehash algo swapping, there are some incredible profits available for those to chase them.

There is an easy and working solution for situations like this, just contact bitfinex.

1) We need one more exchange, let's call it nicefinex.

2) Everyone who lost some "money" will be credited with nfx tokens.

3) Start nfx market at nicefinex.

4) Enable margin trading.

5) Start printing some magic "cryptofiat", this annoying phase can be skipped by simply adding numbers to order books.

6) Pump it.

7) Tadaa, all those dues are payed full in what, three weeks.

8.) WTF just happened?

9) I don't care, btc is going up.

edit: who ever you are, congratulations, you have the best miner there is haha!

edit2: xmr pump has something to do with this?

last line is the best: we are sorry for the inconvenience this caused.

being down for maintenance is an inconvenience. not responding to inquiries in a timely manner is an inconvenience.

getting hacked and losing all your customers money is a touch above inconvenience.

Let me fix this:

We apologize for fucking you in the ass!

Look at this guys response in the one discord channel I'm in when I posted this:

"I lost my last month's worth of mining effort because of this. Not only that, but since my car was totalled after I made the last payment, NiceHash has been my only source of income as I am still waiting for the title to the car to be released. Please...do not hate yourself as much as I hate myself right now..because it is not a fun moment"

Mining Pool Hub have the same features as Nicehash. It has multy mining and even it is better as you can choose coin for auto exchange.

Good that I didn't have much funds there. Google for kryptex if someone's looking for a substitute (auto-algo, bitcoin-payouts service)

Anyone stupid enough to leave a  MONTH'S income there deserves no less. Are you fucking kidding me?? I only use them when their earnings are higher than other sources and when I do I NEVER leave more then 2 days revenue in their wallet. Why?? Because it's THEIR Wallet!!!

It's too early to say that btc is lost
But they will not be able to solve the problem for 24 hours.

There is no reason to believe that the haul is "locked". Quite the contrary. I'm sure it will be converted and laundered ASAP.
