My recommendation from an objective perspective is to go for coins with high "upside" that will get good value through 2019, like NEO or Qtum.  There are several great small caps as well, like Pundi and Ravencoin that will skyrocket in due course.  Zcoin is also a solid project.

It could be true, and the important thing in these situations is we should have money to buy the major altcoin because what we will see in the bull market, every major altcoin will increase especially for the altcoin that has big potential to increase higher.

All coins that OP mention have potential to increase higher and it is the best time to buy a lot of each coin because we might see a big exploding in the next bull run. Without buying that altcoin, we cannot make a big profit as we want and we were only watching the price increase higher. So maybe you will consider buying those coins, and no matter how much amount you buy, you will have the opportunity to make a profit later.

This is a good time to invest in cryptocurrency. Some people might go for the top coins which I think is a good decision because you already know about the potential of those coins and that they give back provided the market is good.

I will not call the coins you have mentioned poor coins but they are not so good when it comes to profitability so better switch to another coin like ETH.

Most of those tokens at the top list are quite expensive to maintain purchase now though many people see them as the best to invest in but not all of them too will stand the test of time as the community backing their project could dump them and go for another better projects, some smaller coins too are quite cool and it’s even better to trade with smaller coins than the top ones that gives little profit though less risky. It is best to go for both, some top coins and some smaller altcoins, it’s better not to put all eggs in one basket.

I have btc.  I want to get a few other coins. 

1.  Waves-  I think this coin could hit very high.  I heard so many good things about it.  I have waves but not that much as i want.

Another good coin is Litecoin. If you see the coinmarketcap site, you will know LTC value keep rising and bring it to the higher position in the market.

I think depending on the views of each investor. If I were you I would choose ETH for the most sustainable and safe investment. Because after the Bitcoin ETH is Altcoins, it deserves the attention and long-term hold.

I would only part out of your list of coins invested the bitcoin mostly there are a number of very interesting projects that you do not have including EOS QTUM KIN and others,on your list it is not particularly interesting,because there are projects that may soon leave the market,they are not particularly stable, for now

To start with, Altcoins are still investment. So why not? Though, Before engaging (Like I always advise) is to conduct a thorough research. In that way you could lessen the possibilities getting scammed or money being wasted. Please always consider that in investing, everything is risky, not all the time the odds will always be on your side. That's why it's better to be prepared at all cost. Also, given the fact that there are a lot fake/scam coins that are being presented in the market, just be cautious and trust only your information. Other sources should only be stand as your reference, and not as your primary information. This is to avoid, blaming other, which in fact all decisions to be made will be yours.

I would agree on IOTA and Stellar, because Iota is popular due to the strength of its technology. Its system enables free transactions and the ability to process transactions offline. Stellar, on the other hand, provides fast and inexpensive cross-border payment services and geared to individual users. While the other coins you provided might be good, but I'm not that confident on those coins mainly because I haven't researched them yet. Also try researching on good ICOs like Files.FM , Bitrus and Windhan, coz as I've done research on them I point them a high personally because of great project details.

Maybe now is still a good option to invest on some af these altcoins, on XLM by the way, but only invest low amount or just invest a sum and wait for some time and not hurry to sell if see price drops, but if you have enough better invest also on more than 1 altcoin.
