There is not very much to it. It's called cheatcoin because you cheated us out of an Ann. Why do people have so much interest in the coin? The thread is fairly long. Am I missing something here!?

After I run a testnet node and synchronize it, I start mining. After I get some cheatcoin, stick to mining. After a while, when I check again, the balance is missing. Please explain what happened Huh

On startup, when you are not connected to another hosts, your node reads blocks saved in the local storage. So you have
         blocks: 9570 of 9570
This means that you know 9570 blocks and the maximum known number of block via the entire network is also 9570, because there is no another hosts in the network. If you mined blocks at this time, your balance is increased, but the mined blocks are not compared with blocks mined by another hosts and they are not really the best.
When you connected to another hosts, you have seen that the really number of blocks in the network is 177032
           blocks: 10255 of 177032
So you actually know only small amount of blocks and now your mined blocks are compared with ones mined by another hosts. Is it occured that your blocks actually are not the best, and your actual balance is 0.

So, you see your actual balance you should control that:
1) you are connected to the network; see output of the command 'net hosts', it should be more that one host here;
2) you are synchonized with the network, i.e. two hexadecimal numbers in the 'difficulty' line should match.

Thank you for this report.
I tried to fix the problem with your method, it worked

1. please send me some testnet coins to one of my addresses below
2. why do I have so many keys created ? i only called the command 'keygen' twice, but it created many many addresses
3. which one is the private key and which is the public ? there are 2 tuples of 'key 0', 'key 1' etc.

thanks

2-3. At first time run one key is created automatically, it is key 0.
When you type 'keygen' command, another key is created.
You type this command twice, so you have 3 keys: key 0 created at program startup + key 1 and key 2 created after typing the command 'keygen'.

The listed above strings like B487AigM67lJ7BrBp1zCRhvEVVNOHoIP are not your public or private keys.
These are you addresses. Because address = block, each block created by your host is also your address.
So, you have many addresses because your host created many blocks.

Each address corresponds to a key. For example, address B487AigM67lJ7BrBp1zCRhvEVVNOHoIP corresponds to key 0.
Addresses are needed to inform other people and they could transfer money to this address.
But to withdraw money from the address, you need to have a private key corresponding to this address.

Private keys itself are stored in the file wallet.dat. Each key is 32 bytes long.
There are 3 keys so the length of the file wallet.dat should be 96 bytes.
For the test net the file is wallet-testnet.dat instead of wallet.dat

thanks a lot, it is now understood.

and yes, my testnet wallet.dat is exactly 96 bytes.

another question:

is it enough to backup wallet.dat + dnet_ket.dat in order to make a backup for my account ? or are there more files i need to backup ?

The latest version of full node for 64-bit Windows (x64) is available on the official site together with the source code for MS Visual Studio 2017. It is tested on Windows 10.
Thanks. Everything works fine now  Wink
I have a question: will the wallet client automatically connect to the main net when it is started if I start client without '-t' parameter before 7pm GMT?

another question:

is it enough to backup wallet.dat + dnet_ket.dat in order to make a backup for my account ? or are there more files i need to backup ?

In case of data loss, it is enough to back up only the file wallet.dat. The file dnet_key.dat identifies your host on the network, but has nothing to do with coins. But since private keys generates from the random data saved in the dnet_key.dat file,  someone, having captured the file dnet_key.dat, can restore your keys. Therefore, both files wallet.dat and dnet_key.dat should be kept secret.
Probably, it makes sense also to save the file netdb.txt. It contains the ip addresses and ports of servers running on the network. Other files do not need to be backed up or in secret storage.

1. I have transferred 100000 coins to the address YjZxlonGl+tSjibh1GJr5//Cydlo9Uvn. But you probably can see them after synchronizing with the network.

I think that is not secure. maybe add password or smth to encrypt personal wallet and/or dnet_key  and can start only when manually password is entered  with some option to be not secure and be more secure? like repeat password within some user specified time period after last time pass was entered - time frame should be defined by network sync (or smth like you probably know better).

there seems to be a bug -
each time when i re-open the daemon+terminal -

i type 'account'

then it see nothing (even though i have multiple addresses with balance on them)

then, after a few minutes -  i re-type 'account'  and then i can finally see all my addresses and balances

it seems like it takes a few minutes to re-sync or something ..

it's a bit confusing because every time you re open the daemon it appears to be an empty wallet for the first few minutes ..

tell me if i wasn't understood
