Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

1st of all, there are for sure more than 3 miners. Also, exchange will wait for a while to let people get coins out so the trades will happen, this usually take at least 2 weeks (well there are exceptions like 3 days to exchange, but I suspect these are their own coins - or their friends'). After a coin hits an exchange, the hashrate always goes up, because by that time the coinchoose etc will show these are the most profitable ones (almost all pre-exchange coins are under valued), then people just jump in and mine. So all coins in exchange have reasonable mining going on.
I remember Fastcoin, I was mining it while no one mined, I remember at one point the cgminer hashrate at 1K something. I was happy I did it. Since it went to exchange, it is consistently one of the most profitable coins in the list. And hashrate has been pretty high.

every new coin is a gamble which will payout or not it all depends if people start to get trust in the coin
when litecoin began loads of trolls passed by but now its one of the coins which is mined by many users
ofcourse many of us see the long times to get a new block but to be honest thats gonna make the coin rare
something rare is desirable for most people hence bitcoin and litecoin
the question is would any of these coins become absolute or not thats the big gamble
People say do not mine any new coins but if your one of the early adopters you might get lucky and end up making some nice gains later if it gets into the trades and becomes more hard and rare to mine the coin

I have been mining only the new coins, of course some coins dead because devs never commit to them, they just launch them, others are around though they are not yet in exchange. As long as devs continue developing and supporting, the coin will be in exchange. By mining new coins, my return is at least 5x than if I mine BTC or LTC directly |

if you want this coin to be in the exchange like cryptsy offer the exchange huge amount of elephant coin like 500000 elf coin or more and hopefully it will be in exchange in just few days, once it go to the exchange every greedy miners will mine this coin because of high percentage of profitability. think about it before this coin become dust in the wind. so start collecting donation as bounty for exchange.
