Guys what will happen if you accidentally lost the copy of your private key?..it's still possible to transfer your tokens to your other wallet using your wallet address..?? Does anyone know?..thanks in advance

private key is the main access so you can get into your wallet balance, if you have lost the private key you will not be able to draw balance in your wallet, be careful with it

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

I assume that you are using an Ethereum wallet and not a Bitcoin wallet cause you are pertaining to tokens.

Private keys is the most essential with any kind of cryptocurrency wallets so if you lose it then there is no way you can retreive your wallets. You have no any insurance in getting back your tokens anymore but if you still have an access to your Keystore File(UTC/JSON) with password then you can still login to your Ethereum address.

yes i agree with your opinion, if lost private key, you can still access to your wallet by using keystore file, if the lost private key is for ethereum wallet

If you lose your private key then everything is lost, it is that simple, there is no way to get it back, now if you have the seed words of your wallet you could recreate your wallet and create the private keys once again, so make an effort to have that information as well in two separate places that way it will be almost impossible to lose your coins.
Yes.I agree. You should always have a list of your private keys then save it in a memory card maybe.Your wallet contains of your most valuable amount so make sure to be cautious always.Or do not put big amounts in your wallet because in times like this, you will really have a hard time recovering once you lost your android phone together with your private key.

Right but I think upon reading he did not back up it too that's why there are no reason for him to retrieve his wallet and the best thing to is to start over again with the newly created wallet so you can now start and forget what happen to your previous eth wallet.

you should be more careful with the private key, because once lost or forgot will be very difficult to be able to access the balance of your wallet and do your wallet transactions

Cryptos give you freedom, but it comes with 100% responsability for you - if you lose your private keys you lose your money and nobody is gonna save you. Responsability is only yours.

I am sorry dis will be the end of that wallet. Your private is expected to be kept on a soft copy and a hard copy. It is likely to be the reason why some people have to write this keys as a password. Cryptocurrency is likely to be the next phase of payment globally. Cryptocurrency is gone beyond just a currency, its an asset and can be delivered to another generation coming.

If you lost your private key then you cannot do transfer your tokens to other wallets, recover or reset your password, and recover and access your wallet account. Your private key is the most important thing in order to access your wallet.

Of what happen to you now, is just a source of learning for all specially those people that are new in crypto and really no one can recover from such loss. To avoid from losing all the money you have stored in your wallet it is necessarily that you have a back-up copy in all accounts. To have a safe keep of it, you can put it on the banks considering that is an important documents of your life.

that means you've lost your access in bitcoin, but if you have a backup so just change your private key for sure, to prevent from hacking your account.

Usually lost of private key is lost of your wallet. You can't restore your wallet using wallet address only. However, you can try to write in wallet support. If you had wallet verification you can try to restore it.

That is very big problem if you lost your private key you cannot access your wallet, there is no other way to recover your private key,if you lost your private key you lost also your money and same as you lost your properties, that's why this is big lesson to all newbie's here in the furom that save your private key and keep it safe always or save it in your harddisk so that you can restore it and you will consider your private key as your private documents because if you lost it you will lost also your profit.

I will try to address your question in maybe a little bit more optimistic way than all the others before me. First, from what you ask and from your doubts I infer that your knowledge of the bitcoin and related matters is very limited. And it gives me hope to help you.

So you are saying that you lost a copy of the private key. I am thinking, that maybe following some advice you created a backup copy of the private key and then you lost it. BUT, maybe the original private key is still where it was, i.e. in some file created by the software for your wallet. So I suggest you simply try to set up a new wallet and try to move your funds from your original wallet to a new wallet. If I am not mistaken, you may as well succeed.

Good luck! Let me know what happened. You may tip me Smiley with BTC: 3NK7xMkrNYCFBj6rRB3wvusugatvwVxCSC

If you lost your private key, then let me tell you that you are fucked, if you were just using a browser wallet, maybe you can join in there with your password + 2fa authenticator.

Otherwise, you are really fucked man, there is nothing that you can do.

Might be lost for now but not forever  wait until quatum computers become cheap enough for people to buy Smiley

"Post-quantum cryptography refers to cryptographic algorithms (usually public-key algorithms) that are thought to be secure against an attack by a quantum computer. As of 2017, this is not true for the most popular public-key algorithms, which can be efficiently broken by a sufficiently large hypothetical quantum computer."
