What is the expected performance of GPUs? I heard it is going to be 2*CPU.

Also good luck with your miner.

the problem is you're not the only one working on a GPU miner.  I don't want to donate 1 BTC to have someone release a version earlier than you.  Otherwise, 1 BTC will be on its way!

Could you predict the OpenCL miner performance difference between Nvidea and AMD GPUs?

Even CUDA miner for N is achievable, it will not be as good as OCL miner on AMD cards?

OP I wouldn't call it a "donation" when there is incentive for people to benefit from that donation. The more appropriate word might be "bribe".

In any case I'm glad to see someone is already working on this. I figured it wouldn't be too long before someone jumped on it.

If you don't mine XPM, now "might" be a good time to buy some if a GPU miner is on the horizon.....just saying...  Smiley

In any case, OP good work on reaper as well as whatever you plan to call this GPU miner. Perhaps call it "PrimeRibReaper"?

Going out on a limb, but Nvidia cards are going to be much better for mining Primecoin. If you look at CUDA benchmarks for F@H, they do much better for such functions - which are probably closer to what Primecoin needs.

More or less, if you look at F@H benchmarks, you find that AMD GPUs are about 2x better than CPUs, but NVidia GPUs are about 3x better than AMD GPUs / 6x better than CPUs.

Take it with a grain of salt, but if you have an Nvidia card, I bet this will be your chance to actually make money off crypto.

I understand and agree that a coder named "mtrlt" created Reaper.  I DONT know that this is the same mtrlt who started this thread. Though, I didn't check their Date Registered: which is April 11, 2011, 02:11:16 PM.
So, my trust level did go up a bit...   Wink
