Have re-enabled Starcoin pool on https://www.miningpool.co

Let me know if there are any problems.

Happy mining!

Or the Dev can ignore our requests and make Starcoin go to "junk" status...

what a joke Sad

on another shitier note, for the last few days or so I have been receiving an error...

"errors" : "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers."

As well as trouble mining today, has anyone else had trouble solo mining today?

It keeps connecting then detecting a new block then goes back to waiting for work from the pool message???

Mining at Minar.cc seems to still be working fine which is very weird..

[EDIT] Solo Mining working fine again, though before when it wasn't I tried it on 3 seperate clients and was having the same issue Sad [/edit]

I had the checkpoint warning, must have been same time; I did again the fix someone posted, downloaded fresh blockchain, then move wallet.dat into it, warning was gone then

The pool is mining fine, and getting nice block rate, just point your miners at str.minar.cc
No warning on pool client..

Minar.cc pools are not running anymore, the domain was registered by someone else and I don't have any relationship with the new owner.

My understanding is that the "inbound" field refers to whether or not the peer connected to you, or the other way around:

inbound: false  (My client initiated the connection to the peer)
inbound: true  (The peer initiated the connection to me)

I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not a peer is sharing blocks.  All peers should be sharing blocks unless there's a problem.

Of course, if I'm totally mistaken someone should set me straight.  Wink

Theoretically that is how I understood it as well but in practice, it does not seem like so.  When I opened up the ports to listen, poof I was able to sync correctly thereafter.

I've experienced the same with another *coind I'd just compiled - not a single block was offered until I figured out how to properly proxy inbound connects a couple of days later. My client was making plenty of outbound connect attempts during that time, including to specific addnode IPs suggested in the coin thread. I'm assuming that I was being blocked by peers for some reason, perhaps because they couldn't connect back to me? But I guess my IP stayed in peers.dat, so once they were able to connect inbound it all started flowing...

Thanks to all who bothered to try and help... Starcoin is pretty much dead as far as I can tell, removed from all exchanges and coinwarz :/

To the admin, you could have saved it... it may be too late now...

I would really like having starcoin functioning again!
BTW, the pool str.minar.ccis still working, so people are mining this coin. It has spikes and low days, but definitely never 0!!

Minar.cc pools are not running anymore, the domain was registered by someone else and I don't have any relationship with the new owner.

Solo mining is working fine again despite the weird checkpoint error... the problem its not on any exchanges anymore and crypto sites are beginning to list the coin as dying!!!

If the DEV was interested in working with the community here that are interested in keeping the coin alive it would definitely be a step in the right direction.

Come ON NZDUDE!

The coin is working fine without problems, since the last fix.

I can still help, but I think the community should nominate somone else more devoted, who has more skills and time and who wants to take over development and marketing of the coin.

This is opensource anyone can take over development and make improvments if its needed.

Its not up to me whether or not the coin dies, but up to everyone who uses it.

Thanks for getting back NZDude,

My clients are all still producing the error message: "WARNING: Checkpoint is too old. Wait for block chain to download, or notify developers." although they are all current with the block explorer, do the checkpoints need to be updated or is it just a weird bug that would be fixed by redownloading the block chain; if so though how come it has effected 3 seperate clients? Do you have any ideas?

I am happy to help with the marketing etc, and although my C++ skills leave a little to be desired I am happy to help out where I can, I am busy for the next week with work but will have some time in the following weeks to work with anyone who is interested in doing some work on the coin/promoting the coin etc.

regards Smiley

Looks like even the lastest version of the client isn't even synching. So for me it isn't "working fine without problems, since the last fix" Nzdude.

I hope that someone will fix it. The coin had a nice idea of Bonus STAR blocks behind it.

~Edit: gonna redownload the whole chain now. Let's see.

Try to sync on early backuped wallet.

This is my StarCoin.conf:
Code:
addnode=63.246.129.56
addnode=198.136.62.201
addnode=108.62.211.51
listen=1

My client now on 244481 block and produced many PoS blocks, even at 0.00 STR Smiley

It's synched now; block #244748 now.

However, I lost a part of my Starcoins.. And that's where Starcoin lost me I guess.

Hi Don007,

Try opening the debug console and typing...

checkwallet

then repairwallet.. should restore you coins, other than those mined during the split.. please let me know if it does Smiley

If anyone cares, the network seems to have forked.  My node has 34 connections, the block explorer reports 30 connections, but my node is a few blocks ahead of the block explorer.  (At this writing, I'm at 253079, the block explorer is at 253076)

The str.minar.cc pool is currently at
Code:
Current Block	254118
Current Difficulty 0.02490951

EDIT: Same as block explorer http://www.starcoin.info/blockviewer/

Minar.cc pools are not running anymore, the domain was registered by someone else and I don't have any relationship with the new owner.

That's great. Might start to mine them again some day. Allthough I really hope more exchanges will accept Starcoin. Do you know which exchanges are currently accepting and trading Starcoins? My all-time favorite Cryptsy isn't anymore.
