How do I set the wallet for mining in Ubuntu 16.04 ?
I am running snowgemd on my Ubuntu 17.10 laptop, just to get a wallet address?

Am I supposed to run:

snowgemd getnewaddress

And use that address in my miner?

How do I backup my wallet?

1. Download windows wallet at: https://snowgem.org/#wallet
2. Download snowgem params at: https://snowgem.org/downloads/snowgemparams.zip
3. Extract snowgemparams.zip to your C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming folder and rename entire folder to "SnowgemParams" (without quotes).
    -The zip contains a folder called ".snowgenparams"  *Rename this entire folder as stated above and place folder the Roaming directory.
4. Create new folder in C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming and name it "Snowgem" (without quotes)
5. Create snowgem.conf to snowgem folder (it can be empty)
    -New text document and rename to the above "snowgem.conf" (without quotes).  Verify it does not have ".txt" as file type.

Put this in the first page please.

   Glad I could help out.  Mined a few hundred on the nibirupool in a today with no issues at all.  Loaded up the wallet a little bit ago and everything synced up no problem!

It's just the same as Zcash now. The different is the future when we add some specific features to the wallet. You can see some main feature in #1.

Because CPU mining is terrible for Equihash, so we disabled it. The intel Xenon 1230V2 only get 0.03 sol/s as we tested.

You should:
1. Run snowgemd by using the command: ./snowgemd
2. Run snowgem-cli by using command: ./snowgem-cli getnewaddress
3. You'll got new address in the terminal
4. Your wallet is in ~/.snowgem folder. You should backup wallet.dat file.

I need some help. I am tech savvy and learn easy, but have never ran a wallet like this. I am on WIN. I got the Snowgemd.exe up and running and wallet synced. That is as far as I got. I see a .jar  swing walletUI file, but it is a .jar which opens with WinRAR by default. What am I supposed to run it with.

Question two. how do I get an address. I see the generate new address commands mentioned, but I can't get the -cli.exe to run. When I click it, it just closes right away.

Question three. Can I solo mine with windows? Ive solo mined other coins, with qt wallets so know how to set those up. Im just a little confused as some people are saying solo mining is disabled in windows, and others that are saying its not. A little clarification would be nice.

Uninstall all previous java version. Install java 8. Run the snowgemd.exe file . Next > Open the .jar file with javaw.exe file.

When I try to connect with my miner on local, it says "connected to 127.0.0.1" then says "connection closed by server r:0"

Can anyone assist with the second question....Is it possible to solo GPU mine using dstm or ewbf miner with this wallet. I set up the conf file. When I try to connect with my miner on local, it says "connected to 127.0.0.1" then says "connection closed by server r:0"
