According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Nope. Just availability counts. MN shouldn't go offline, thats all that counts

Glad to see this project is flourishing. The whitepaper seems legit enough. I am curious if there will be options to fork away from equihash if it gets too saturated with asics?
There will! First some fork to disable asics, (Very) Later maybe some fork to POS. But that's very far in the future.
But an fork to brick those asics will definitely be applyed! Smiley

This coin barely has any volume and there's little to no exchange support.  No data to coinmarketcap or similar services.  Rather than worrying about ASICs I would hope you'd be worried about more important things.  Let bigger coins figure out how to deal with ASCIs.  I work in software and personally think it's a losing battle.  ASICS will become more sophisticated and/or you'll have FPGA's start coming online.  Be mindful that changes make the coin more ASIC resistant also have a negative impact on GPU miners.  Every time you fork you risk the potential losing people during the fork.  Eventually people are just going to sell their coins and cash out.

Fair enough. I think you have a solid point. The issue is that bigger coins aren't hit nearly as hard by asics than smaller ones. Granted, as mentioned there is very little we can do with FGPAs and similar tech, but its still something that can really centralize the early distribution of the coin.
I find that there are two sides of coins, soft and hard. Hard is the coding and that stuff is beyond me, but the soft side is social - this is the listings on exchanges, economics, etc. If there is any longevity in the project, which this seems to have, it all comes out in the wash of time. Exchange listings just cost money, which the protocol creates for the foundation in each block - along with support from people actively trading it. Once one of the bigger names in the space picks this up it will have the volume needed. Cryptopia is probably the go-to, though its expensive as hell to get listed, will be worthwhile in the long run. I was simply asking about the long run =)

I am patiently waiting for your announcement on detailed plan to cope with Equihash-ASICs.
As you stated earlier, by now you have had two different options:
Hard fork and soft fork, and you would like to choose softfork rather than hardfork.

Best regards,

Still don't get your opinion, so would you like to opt the softfork? or you just ask for Dev to choose?

~
Great new products for Snowgem community, TXID!
Thanks for this one, both you and Snowgem core team. However, I am curious about those two points:
Code:
- add claymore equihash
- add zcash
What are main purposes of these two new features? I guess they are something like built-in wallet mining tools, am I right?

You can use AMD rigs to mine.

Now you can use SnowMine to mine zcash if you want.

Got your ideas, TXID. For now, SnowMine makes the mining works more convenient for miners. This new feature is something like multi-mining tool, can I called it like this, TXID?
In addition, I guess that in the future you will add more Equihash-alogrithm coins into the current mineable coins in SnowMine tool, right?

Not only equihash, any algorithm can be added. This tool will support most popular GPU coins.

We don't even know what Bitcoin or Ether will be and all coins and tokens had their highs when Bitcoin had its high.
Sorry, only a fool would work without knowing what kind of work he is doing. Same with playing bitcointalk forums but the person does not know what is Bitcoin / Cryptocurrency.

I was referring to the prices and not to the cryptocurrency topic per se. Nobody knows where Bitcoin will be 12 months from now. We all believe it will go up, but that's it. That doesn't make me a fool.

Perhaps you should add your pool with different income coins, teach the miner to choose the most profitable coins. Make a mix of MC (Mining Control) and NH.

More exciting features will be added to SnowMine in next version, let's prepare for it. If you have any suggestion for SnowMine, fell free to send us a message.

P/S: ModernWallet, a GUI wallet for all operating systems, will be developed in June.

I don't support the idea to ask for listing in Cryptopia Exchange. The one got troubles with lots of crypto coins listed in their platform in the last few weeks.
I guess something serious happened with the Cryptopia Exchange behind the scene.
Furthermore, they tend to ask expensive listing fees.
