KA dev here. In May we put up a video series that explains what bitcoins are and how they work. After that, we got a bunch of requests asking us to accept donations in bitcoin. That makes a tonne of sense, so now you can donate bitcoins to Khan Academy! The donate page now has a bitcoin option listed under other ways to donate.

If you donate, you can even earn a special badge on your profile called "I am Satoshi Nakamoto".
Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Awesome! I've been working KA into daughter's homeschool lesson plans for the past couple weeks!

KA content's always very well-explained. Very thorough and time-efficient. Excited there may be even more content added before she starts. Donated!

I was surprised by that, too. If you don't have to register, it's not very clear on how to donate without.

+1, maybe this was a deliberate choice, but many bitcoin people seem to value their privacy (though I would expect this to become less outspoken so as the currency becomes more mainstream), so you might get a lot more donations if registration is not required.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.
