MemoryCoin Reloaded
So now that the coin looks properly dead, I'm looking at a relaunch.
I want to support those who supported the MCF and the ideals of the coin, so I'm proposing a small pre-mine of about 42,000 (~4%) coins to distribute to participants in the beta experiment who generally voted unselfishly. I'm looking at the last vote that MCF won - at block 8800 and the balances of those whose voted MCF. This should seed the coin with sophisticated users who know how to vote, employed a holding strategy and will vote in the interests of the coin, and reward those who participated in the beta.
Here's the list -

That should be the balance at that time.

I'm thinking of leaving it as 1 grant, but simplifying how to vote so just send 1 satoshi for first pref, 2 satoshi for second pref etc Anything you'd like to see in there? I'm still working on the proof of work algorithm, so open to new (and maybe old) interesting ideas.

First of all I am glad that you are gone keep the voting system. Yes the easier it is the better. You have stopped supporting it when majority of votes vent to the RP. What is gone be different this time? how do you solve this? Stas

First of all I am glad that you are gone keep the voting system. Yes the easier it is the better. You have stopped supporting it when majority of votes vent to the RP. What is gone be different this time? how do you solve this? Stas Well I think what happened last time was the voting got corrupted over time because there were 5 grants . . . so people thought they could subvert 1 or 2 grants, and the other grants would keep things going. But what happened was that once there was a little corruption, it grew until it was over 50% and the whole system failed. Changing the culture after that was established wasn't possible. This time I'm hoping corruption won't have a chance to grow - there will either be none, or it will be total . . but it won't have a chance to grow gradually. And we're seeding it with miners and investors who understand the voting and the ideals, so we'll have a better chance to put down a better culture. That's my hope anyway.

just my proposal: totally agree to reduce the number of voted grants, but greed is greed and if someone becomes a big holder (by mining or buying) there would exist the possibility for her/him to 'hijack' the grant. A possibility to prevent this could be to choose the awarded address non-deterministically: the most voted address has the biggest probability to be rewarded but it is not ensured (I don't know if this is technicaly possible).

good idea. It could be determined by number of votes, but not by the biggest amount of coin at one purse.

Yes the number of vote should matter a bit more than the quantity of coin.

Note that if we only take de number of votes as the parameter to determine the awarded address the voting system can also be cheated. Just by distributing the coins over diferent addresses the 'big holder' could emulate serveral users. The point of my proposal is to make the voting system probabilistic: a grant address has more probability of being awarded as more coins (or votes, or a combination of both) support it, so, in the long run, all the grant addresses are awarded proportional to the support they receive. All the nodes in the network should use the same pseudo-random number generator or whatever algorithm to choose the 'winner' address.

Yes, any attempt to enforce a 'number of votes' rather than the 'size of votes' will lead to the gaming the voting. On the other point - I think have a winner whose likelihood is based on the size of the vote is probably technically possible, but I think it would certainly lead to everyone immediately voting for themselves in the hope of winning.

is there a bounty for an mec block explorer?
Yes - I think if you can guarantee to provide a service at launch for MemoryCoin, I'll add some MEG for you in the genesis block - same offer goes for anyone else too. Priv message me with the details of what kind of block explorer etc.

Use those nodes : Oh no! You're still trying to keep this dead blockchain alive. This is like Weekend At Bernies. Everyone, please be careful about trading on the old fork - coins there won't show up on the relaunch.

That is all saved-up coins will be destroyed? ? ? It somehow not so to those who began mining coins at the beginning? ? ? ? ? ?Can not do then restart and to leave this version? ? ? ?
If MemoryCoin is restarted, everything you have will be lost but look at it an other way : today your Coin are worthless. If this time the community and devs are good enough then MemoryCoin will be worthy.

Wow, what great news! Free Trade, you are the best I have a question though, I still have my MEG wallet saved but I am not sure how to check if my address is on the list (because I can't open the MemoryCoin client anymore, it will just not open), I know it should be on there as I supporter the MemoryCoin foundation all the way, from beginning to the end, but I would like to check if it rely is....is there any way to retrieve the address from the wallet.dat without the client? Do we have to keep the wallet.dat for the new release?
