Anyone know the price for a 8 chip version of the board?
8 chip would cost about 70$ less. About 35$ for every 4 chips that you take off.
[/quote]

So not following the ROI logic here..

8 chips where around $600 give or take..
8 chip board with from you guys $530

Total $1130 give or take , minus shipping etc..
Give or take around 32 Gh/s at 4Gh/s a chip.. im sure u can squeeze more but...

The expected generation output, at 32 Ghps, given current difficulty of 189281249.28103 , is 0.0850229705821 BTC per day and 0.00354262377425 BTC per hour.

so about .085 per day.. which is about $10.6 a day.. so with no changes in diff that's only $318 per month..

The math for the price of your board just doesn't seem to add up for ROI?

No. Following the cost of components and assembly and price of development...

My 2 cents on this...

I think what Lucko is trying to say is that the costs are the costs.  This is a small volume product and thus the production costs are high.  They are not doing this as a commercial venture and should also be compensated for the time and effort they have put into this.  Small volume electronic assembly is very expensive.  If anything, the chips are the overpriced piece that is keeping from ROI and that is beyond Lucko and team's control.

Right on the money... We used more then 10.000$ for this. We end up buying samples since there were no donations and that is now seen on the price. And creating 6 to 10 boards at the time is a sample size and it cost accordingly... But waiting for 1000 chips is also not an option... And we did target bigger number of chips per board to get costs down... Assembly and board cost are about the same if it is 1 or 16 chip board. The only difference are power parts. We could use lower price but they are less efficient... Other way would be to sell uncomplicated board like others that say you need to buy cooling yourself... But at the end you end up with same or higher price with full board. Less then full there are some difference yes...

The alternative is to buy a 60Gh single from BFL for twice the price and wait another 3 months for it to be delivered.
Edit:- Its now 50Gh. If you need 8chip device from BFL then hard luck they have dropped it from the range.

It is only firmware 1.2.9 that has an option to limit it to 50GH. So you have to flesh it and void warranty... It also probably has a future of cooling power supply that is overloaded...

The "Jody Blog" indicates that they are catching up on device deliveries.

On the BFL home page earlier, I notice they have dropped the little single from the sales list.
Edit:- so when the back orders are complete, it's gone.

Pet peeve #32: People who put smiley faces after sarcastic, disrespectful or inflammatory comments. As if that makes the remark less argumentative and softens what is otherwise prickish statements.

Hi Lucko

Will "Cointamination" appear in the miner software as one device?  Or can it be configured as multiple devices?

If you are talking about MrTeal or Cannery then yes... If you are talking about someone else don't know...

If you can "split" BFL device then yes but I don't think you can. I think you can't do that with any device... And why would you? Even if you do so you still have them in same miner and on same pool...
